Numerus clausus - lit. "closed number". Used to refer to a fixed maximum number of entrants admissible to an academic institution. Also a concept of property law.

"Arieh Ayondale. This is the name of the man who ruined our lives. Now we're going to ruin his."

Hey guys! Welcome to the OOC for Fate/numerus clausus! Not much else to say besides applications are now open, and I look forward to your submissions and RPing with you all! If anyone needs reminding, here are the rules:

  • Respect your GMs. As GM and co-GM, vance and I have the final say on any submitted character sheets or OOC arguments about gameplay mechanics. We reserve the right to deny sheets for whatever reason, whether it be balance issues or just a matter of aesthetics. As this is a PvE RP, there will also be times where we will be required to re-rail the plot or autohit your characters (though never without reason). This is a non-negotiable part of the GM/player contract. As long as you show respect to us, we will show respect to you, and we will do our best to treat everyone fairly.
  • No seriously, don't fuck with us guys. We mean business xD
  • No autohitting, godmodding etc. I don't expect there to be much PvP in this RP, but it's still worth reminding. As I said before, we GMs may occasionally autohit players, but only for plot reasons, and never fatally or irreparably. Unless, of course, you break the following rule.
  • Anyone who goes quiet for more than seven consecutive days will be considered to have dropped out of the RP. I will not enforce a strict "you must post this often in so many days" rule, but I do demand that you at least post once a week every week. If you can't make an IC post of any substantial length, then make a short post in the OOC letting us know and explaining the circumstances. If you do, you will be given another three days to post. If that's still not enough time, you can arrange for whoever you're partnered with to take control of your characters until you are able to post, or else they will fall under GM control.

    • Any characters who are under GM control will be subject to the GM's whims. As their players will at that time have been considered to have dropped out, this can include almost anything we may think to do with your characters, up to and including death or dishonor. Please try not to let this happen. We take no joy in this but this rule exists for the express purpose of keeping this RP from stalling because of disappearing players.
    • Servants whose Masters have died (in most cases due to decisions made by the GM) will die unless they are in possession of Independent Action or a Rank B or higher in Mana, in which case they will be allowed to team up with one of the existing Masters or seek shelter in the Church to await the appearance of any Masters who have lost their Servants. In the case of a Master whose Servant drops out, that player will have the option to continue playing both Master and Servant if they so desire, or "adopt" a Servant who has made it safely to the Church.
  • We will not enforce a "you must post this often in so many days" rule, but we will enforce a "you may only post this often in so many days" rule. A common problem I see in RPs, Fate RPs especially, is a few players posting so much and so often that other people interacting with them feel overwhelmed or left behind, which often leads to them dropping out. We want to avoid this. As such, each player may only post a maximum of twice a day. For some people this may seem slow, for others it may seem fast. However we're doing it to keep the RP going steady at what we believe is a manageable pace for everyone, and no one is required to post twice a day, you just can't post more than that.
  • Be curteous and respectful to everyone (within reason, of course), and have a great time playing with each other!

I've included some empty CS templates below, and if you need examples of any partially filled ones, I've added the first of a growing number of GMPCs in the characters tab.

Master Sheet

[appearance]

Name:
Gender:
Age:
Height/Weight: (use centimeters and kilograms, please)
Alignment: (Chaotic, Neutral, or Lawful, then Good, Evil or Neutral)
Master of:

Personality: (at least two or three paragraphs, please)

Background: (see the above)

Origin: (typemoon.wikia.com/wiki/Magecraft)
Element: (see above)
School of Magecraft: (typemoon.wikia.com/wiki/List_of_Magic… ; feel free to use that as a reference or come up with your own)

List of Skills/Spells: (please list every spell of note that your character knows as well as its cost in units of magical energy)

Mystic Codes: (typemoon.wikia.com/wiki/Mystic_Code ; Mystic Codes are fundamentally different from normal spells and don't/shouldn't require any significant expenditure of magical energy, however keep in mind that students aren't likely to have many if any)

Circuit Quality: (on a scale of E to A, with E being a garbage-tier magus like Shirou and A being a top class magus like Rin)
Circuit Quantity: (see above)
Number of circuits: (this will directly relate to circuit quantity; you can either have a lump-sum of circuits like Shirou if you like to keep things simple or a smaller number of circuits each with their own studs, like Rin or Professor Ayondale)
Od (units): (this will be the major difference between this and other Fate RPs; that is, we will be keeping track of your total prana expenditure for both spells and maintaining your Servant as expressed in units of Od [keep in mind that a spell's Od cost is only to start the spell, Mana from The World keeps it going])
Maximum circuit capacity: (the above measurement of your total units of Od is how much magical energy your body produces a day, whereas this is how many units of magical energy your circuits can handle when channeling Mana from the atmosphere; usually it will not be more than a few times your total Od)

Other: (anything else you want to make note of)

As a helpful frame of reference for determining your costs in units of Od: typemoon.wikia.com/wiki/Magical_Energy

Servant Sheet

[appearance]

Class:
True Name:
Master:
Gender:
Alignment:
Height/Weight:

Stats:

  • STR:
  • END:
  • AGL:
  • MAG:
  • LCK:

Class Skills: (typemoon.wikia.com/wiki/Skill ; no more than five at the absolute most, three is the average)

Personal Skills: (see above)

Noble Phantasm(s):

  • Name:
  • Title:
  • Type: (Anti-Unit, Anti-Army, Anti-Fortresss, Anti-Country, Anti-World etc.)
  • Rank: (from E to EX, as per usual)
  • Range: (I know the series itself rarely does this, but use meters and kilometers)
  • Maximum Number of Targets: (this one is more arbitrary than the others, as you can in theory cram a rather large number of people/targets into a small space in improbable situations, so just list a number you think fits)
  • Description: (include cost in units out of your Servant's total amount magical energy as determined by their MAG stat; i.e. E = 400 units, D = 800 units, C = 1200 units etc.)

That's really all I can think of for now. Have at it everyone, and don't be afraid to ask questions if you have any.

awh heLL YEAH. I'll start working on a master sheet, I'll just make sure that @Shadow Daedalus is cool with me taking Archer before starting on a servant. In case he's not, I'm pretty sure Lancer was the servant class not booked?

@vFear Nope, that was me. Which is why i'm qualified to say that.

I decided against snagging Rider because I figured a lot of people were around and I'd be cool with just a Master. Taking one for the team, so to speak.

I didn't post right away, that doesn't mean I'm suddenly gone! Seriously, patience! Anyways yeah, don't want Lancer. I'm fine with just a Master.

I just want to warn everyone before hand our Saber will have some rather bloated statistics. Her base kit is already rather ridiculous and Turbo desired to give her even more power since we're so close/will be summoning in Britain. Due to that they will be receiving a fame boost. This is not to give you guys a disadvantage, or to make me look stronger than anyone else. Simply put the saber on the enemy side is being buffed to compensate.

Should be fine to me. I believe that Heroic spirits should be, within reason, powerful abd sometimes "wanked," as well. These are heroes of myth and legebd we are talking about, after all.

To give you a rough idea she still wouldn't be able to handle Gilgamesh in a straight up fight but she can properly take on Heracles. The only thing he has on her in her current stat is a rank of luck, Battle Continuation, and his noble phantasm. Not sure if she'd 'win' the fight but that is a thing now. Mind's Eye False is more or less nulled by Intuition and vice versa.

I think that's overstating it (or understating it depending on how you interpret some low-end showings in the Fate and UBW routes). Mordred could bump shoulder to shoulder with Heracles in stats with the buff, but Nine Lives would more than likely do her in during an actual fight. No need to give people the wrong idea, it's just a stat buff ^^

Admittedly it doesn't help that Mordred had high stats to begin with, but fame is a hell of a drug I guess. For the record, Richard has also had this buff applied, but his stats were lower than Mordred's to begin with on account of his fame overall not quite stacking up to the Knights of the Round Table. Which is good, because Red Team will need every advantage they can get in this RP, including Mordred >:D

@Turboshitter That's why I say it's debatable. Undoubtedly Blood Clarent Arthur would kill him once. But after that, or perhaps before that, Heracles would do her in. I used 'win' in air quotes because technically killing a person would normally count as a victory but Herc is a special case.

@vancexentanSaber and Leon are up. Don't say we didn't warn you about her stats xD

@Grey@1Charak2@WanderingSpirit@vFear@Shadow Daedalus@Cu Chulainn@Cojemo

On that note, once they're accepted, I'd like for everyone to refrain from posting in the character tab so I can edit their completed CSes into the single post already present. Having all the character sheets compiled in one post will make things tidier, and easier to organize as well as edit if the need arises.

quick everyone wank the shit out of your characters

speaking of characters, for the sake of organization and roll-call we should probably all say what we are 100% working on so we can figure out what we need to fill and who's willing to fill them

I'm actively writing a character sheet for a magus that uses healing and familiars. I'll have to get back to you on servant though, as aforementioned.

Writing a sheet for a spiritual medium/necromancer. Don't worry, she doesn't really spec using ghosts as familiars so we still have our cast speciation. Think something along the lines of Fiore or Kairi.
