There was an old world, with its own people, its own architecture, culture, a life of its own. Then they came, and it died. Their crops razed, their life sunffed out. Their world swallowed. We were those invaders. Or at least, who they used to be. Now, only dust is left, and that was ages ago. But those people aren't gone. Enslaved or captured, I don't know, but now they're like us, living in the world of dust that generations of greed and fear had built. Though their way was killed, they found a new way, living off land we long thought dead and barren. Now, as the new starts to falter under its own weight, the shadows of the old rise again. The spirits of the old life are flowing again, granting their gift to the children of the new. Powers, knowledge. Brotherhoods. Now thrust into a world they don't understand, they struggle to find their place in a world that doesn't have a use for them- or trust them- with powers that, for some, only seem to cause pain. This is their story. Wrought from the dust.
Your life is rustic, but it's all you've known. Roughly constructed plank buildings to guard against the harsh, salted wind, technology -from a place you've never even thought of seeing- which never quite worked, and an unforgiving landscape- but this was home. Simple, sure. Boring, oppressive? Maybe, but it was life, and you were used to it. Life was ordinary. Until one day, by accident, or for seemingly no reason, you gain a power that is certainly beyond ordinary. Maybe you try to hide this power, or perhaps you use it for your own gain. There are some who would gather in groups, try to understand it, while the rest of the ordinary world shuns these new, strange happenings. What purpose could there be for these powers, and what is heralded by their coming?
Brotherhood of the Fang- Those with particularly combat oriented powers, or claws, horns, fangs, and armor, form a group dedicated to keeping those with powers from being snuffed out. Leader- Unknown - - -
Sun Riders- Free spirits with powers over heat, fire, or quick travel, the Sun Riders travel together for their mutual love of adventure. Leader- Unknown - - -
Brothers of the Stars' Eye- Those who wish to find meaning in their powers quickly began to form secret groups. Soon, these meetings coalesced into the Brotherhood of the Stars' Eye. It is said their enigmatic leader has the mystical ability to see into the minds of others. Leader- Unknown - - -
Dusk Knell- It is said that a group of powered individuals roam the outskirts of town at night, though none have seen them. Others say there's a group of people who think only those with powers are fit to live anymore. They may even be the same people, but no one talks. Leader- Unknown - - -
More to come.
Any character can only have one power. It may have different applications or manifestations, but it's still one power. Furthermore, these aren't extreme powers. They're either supernatural or physiological, but nothing over-the-top, as in destroying a house is major no matter how you slice it. Additionally, each power has a thematic element, called a "Fuel" for OoC purposes, which determines how it functions and interacts with other powers. The Fuels are as follows: Fire, Water, Stone, Sky, Wood, Beast, Nature, Vermin, Pestilence, Hunt, Maker, Kill, Death, Life, Birth, Bone, Metal, Cold, Subterrain, Liberty
Name: Age: (On the young adult/teen side please) Sex: Appearance: (Images are fine, no real person photos though.) Personality: Bio: (a short history if you don't mind, or what their life was before they got powers. In your first IC post, you already have your power, and know mostly what it is.) Power: (While these are super powers, it's on a relatively low scale, and certain powers may have some drawbacks. As a rule of thumb, destroying a building should be seen as impressive, not arbitrary, and you won't be able to take out a block or street of buildings at once, that's for sure.) Brotherhood: (To which brotherhood the character belongs. They don't have to start in one.) Other:
Any questions, concerns, or comments? Feel free to let me know.
Hello, again! Glancing over this, the biggest concern I think probable players might have is in terms of plot. There's a set-up here regarding the powers, but there's not much of a "rising action," if you will, being insinuated. Like, what conflict(s) might present themselves to characters? Might they share a common ambition?
Also, as a suggestion, the interest check appears to have additional details on the world. Transferring those to the official thread would be most obliged, I suspect. Expanding on the post-apocalyptic setting to the greatest extent that you can, too, would be especially helpful for inviting diverse characters, as well as giving players something to chew on and aptly visualize when constructing posts in the future.
@Burning Kitty It means you have too much. At first I wasn't sure, when you said "healing", if you meant regeneration, of the ability to cure others. Regenerationon the level you mentioned is outside the scope of this rp.
@tobiax Unfortunately, I think I will have to drop this RP :( I haven't got any character ideas, plus school just started so I have a lot less free time
