With two caveats:

1) Its your job to populate that garage.
2) You can switch it up whenever you like, and to an extent even mix-and-match hardware between them.

[i]Is it a good idea to put a marksman cannon on a heavy ordnance mech already carrying mortars? Probably not. Is the maintenance department going to give you funny looks if you request that? Most definitely. Am I going to put an administrative halt on that plan? Not at all.[/i]
