I believe @dblade26’s Ken Kazetani and @DangDude’s Chihiro Kazehana are very similar (they both have ‘kaze’ in their name!) due to both of their quirks serving as being wind-oriented even if the mechanics may be different.

I agree, but I think a rivalry like Eijiro and Tetsutetsu in the anime can make things even more interesting.  Though if you're not really looking for something like that, would you allow them to change their character's quirks to something else?@Ebil Bunny
You make a point I have not thought about, but in the case of allowance. Everyone is allowed to apply until all slots are filled. Also, me and Drew agreed to jump the classroom size from eight to ten, so eight characters will now be needed. So we will have to see how many applications we have as slots begin to get filled, I suppose. I'll discuss the concept of allowing both presuming we find both applications agreeable to Drew.

Drew has been mostly ill today, so we haven’t come to any delegations. But once extensions are up we will have ten applications and only eight slots. I’m not sure how we’ll decide when we’re able to review things together. I guess there’s no harm in applying but just know that decisions have yet to be made and we already like a good deal of CS’s so far.

With that said, Drew and I did talk Thursday night and I feel it not being uncouth to say our universal acceptance for the first round of accepted applications being three characters that have been sent to us. This does not mean that those not mentioned are rejected. We will still be reviewing the ongoing apps over the weekend plus. We still need to delegate over the “Kaze” applications, the “Gaijin” characters (but we need to wait for Raijinslayer to finish their application as it fits the same mold), and see what Grey & Asura have cooked up following the extension. So without further contemplation, here are the first three accepted characters!

Akada is 5’9” weighing 160 lbs with natural sanguine-red hair. His eyes are red and the sclera of his eyes are a plasma-yellow. His complexion is rosier than normal, appearing flushed. His skin to the touch is a little warmer than normal—feverish, but for his body-type it is normal. His fingernails are black and it’s not nail polish. It is actually a collection of iron under the cuticle. His fingers are often covered in bandages, and he can always be found wearing a hoodie of some sort. Hoodies, jeans, cargos, and Vans (skater shoes) comprise his every day outfit. He will have headphones in his ears listening to music and a skateboard either under his feet or being carried under his arm.

Q U I R K   D E S C R I P T I O N

Akada’s quirk is iron manipulation. He can manipulate the iron found in his own blood. He will often carry iron bars no longer than his hand into combat to act as fuel for his iron stores. His body will break down the iron and absorb it into his skin. Akada’s ability requires him to harm himself in order to release the iron found in his blood. He can then use his iron in several different attacks. He normally creates iron constructs from it such as a sword and shield. He can break these constructs back down and reabsorb them if they aren’t destroyed. Akada can fling his blood at enemies and it can take on the shape of several senbon-like needles, a lashing iron whip, or a javelin. Akada doesn’t waste his blood, and so he will settle for some sort of iron construct to battle his opponent with.

The downside to Akada’s ability is that he risks iron deficiency anemia if he uses too much of his iron stores. He will become pale and suffer a shortness of breath. His motions will become lethargic as he creeps closer and closer to fainting, or worse, death. He will lose focus and grow cold. His iron is susceptible to magnetism, and therefore, can be rendered useless by enemies with such quirks. Akada has coped with his quirk by eating foods high in iron: spinach, eating red meat rare or seared, certain grains, etc. As previously mentioned, he will also collect iron doodads that he will keep stored in the pockets of his hoodie in the case he needs them.

Akada in advance stages will be able to construct a suit of armor from iron and discover the quirk his mysterious father left him with.
C A P A B I L I T I E S

Akada can do anything on his skateboard. At least that’s what most people believe when they see him navigate sidewalks, roads, and other obstacles without having to dismount. He is quite the gifted multi-tasker, being able to skateboard, listen to music, read or talk on the phone all at once. His multitasking skills had allowed him to perform several functions around his house: cleaning, cooking, grocery shopping, and watching television. Applying these skills to his studies, he rarely gets overwhelmed by schoolwork, which leads to his other talent. He is a master procrastinator. No matter what, he knows Future Akada will get the assignment done eventually. Until then, he is going to do several other things. You know that kid who didn’t work as hard as you on a project and still managed to get an A? Yep, that’s him!

Akada as friendly as he seems is inside out. He keeps his family and personal business a secret from those who probably actually care about him. It’s not their problem. His problems are his own. Akada prefers for everyone to act as they normally would and not change because of any other negative circumstances. This makes him actually have trust issues for he trusts hardly anyone with certain things. Akada is very passionate about villains getting the justice they deserve, and this drive is what motivates him to perform his best in hero school.

His background is shrouded in darkness. Akada was a child that was never meant to be, but instead he was thrust on his mother by a villain to put it lightly. He doesn’t know who his father is, and he didn’t know what kind of a man he was until his grandmother told him. Secretly, Akada regrets his existence knowing that it came about unwillingly, but while he is here and alive he has vowed to himself that he was going to become a great hero so that situations like his mother’s can be mitigated. Akada just has to learn that becoming a great hero isn’t something he can do on his own. It requires trust, and he will have to learn to open up eventually.

If one were to look closely, they would realize that Borei...well...he's dead. He possesses no heartbeat and he doesn't feel pain. Hoodies, jeans, cargos, and Vans (skater shoes) comprise his every day outfit. He will have headphones in his ears listening to music and a skateboard either under his feet or being carried under his arm.

Borei’s quirk is that he’s basically a zombie. He can be disemboweled, dismembered, and as long as he can be pulled back together with some sort of stitching or surgery, then he can still function. He doesn’t feel pain and so often times breaks and tears in his skin go unnoticed. The beauty about his quirk—if there’s any beauty at all—is that he can strike opponents without feeling the backlash, which makes his strikes rather dangerous. He may break his hand on your face, but you will suffer for it, not him. The consequence of his quirk is that depending on the severity of his injuries, he relies on someone to pull him back together. Borei has broken his bones and tore his muscle fibers more than once his entire life that they have been reinforced on countless occasions for every time he was pieced back together. Borei can tank quite the amount of punishment before his body would crumble.

Borei grew up taking karate and judo classes in school and so is rather proficient in the art of self-defense. Because his quirk seems more of a handicap without a proper offense, Borei in his determination to become a great hero has taken it upon himself to learn how to fight. Of course, it wasn't easy for his mistakes have cost him several medical bills.

 Manny experienced a growth spurt during his childhood. His current height remains at 5’6 and a half excluding the mutation advantage. The boy’s weight is ideal for someone at his height and age; the scale represents him to be around 172 pounds. From eating fruits and vegetables, Manny gained a healthy complexion. 

The kid could eat more fattening foods. Due to his fast metabolism, he does burn and breaks down his meals a lot quicker. His normal appearance is nothing impressive nor unhealthy, he just appears to be extremely lanky. His clothing consists of light winter jackets with holes in the hood.

Transformation

Q U I R K   D E S C R I P T I O N
Manny is fortunate to have possessed the super powered genes from both of his parents. His mother carried a mutation quirk and his father held powers of an emitter. The combination of the two gifted Manny with a transformation. Manny can alter his form to resemble a deer. 

His mother carried the quirk to have a doe’s characteristics. Her ears became differently shaped and stretched outwards as a result. Even her nose possessed the wetness and blackness of doe. Other than appearance changes, her agility and jumping prowess could only be described as phenomenal. 

Manny’s father emitted ice as his quirk. The man dropped the temperature to below freezing wherever he walked. His breath even showcased how cold his quirk made him converting to a visible cloud of air. More impressive, the man created ice from thin air. That isn’t just an expression, his quirk allowed him to freeze the air particles thus changing a gas to a solid matter.

Manny obtained both of these genes but did not get them specifically. One major defining trait about Manuel is the antlers popping out of his skull once he enables his transformation. His mother never owned antlers so it must’ve changed due to his male gender. His antlers are sturdy enough to take blows; however, Manny can break them off to assemble a stronger set than before. Doing this can grant him a migraine. Multiple times will only increase the pain and force him to bleed from his head. Once he triggers his antlers, Manuel cannot retract them back until a few days later. It makes going through doors very difficult; they increase his height by two feet. 

Manuel inherited his father’s coldness. The temperature from his body is always cold which is the reason he carries a light jacket with him at all times. He can only emit ice if he calls forth his transformation technique. Unfortunately, he did not get the best out of his father’s quirk. His father’s quirk granted him the ability to create ice from anywhere. The opponent might have been a long distance away, but Manny’s father acquired the capability of still injuring him. Manuel cannot do that as he can only freeze the air in a five-foot radius.    

C A P A B I L I T I E S
 Manny bears the knowledge of knowing three languages: English, Spanish, and Japanese. He knows how to prepare sushi and other traditional Japanese dishes; this goes the same for Mexican meals too. Manuel knows how to prioritize his responsibilities. Making a schedule does help him complete short-term goals a lot quicker. 

C H A R A C T E R   G O A L S
 Manny’s parents originated from Mexico; however, Manny was born on U.S. soil. The reason involves their interpretation of the country; they perceived Mexico inappropriate for their child. With little money in their possession, Manny’s father sent his pregnant wife to the United States. Though this happened by illegal terms. 

Manny paid an established man of a crime organization to provide transportation for his beloved. The man accepted the payment and allowed the woman on board. He drove a moving truck full of people who wished to live the American dream. The drive consisted of uneasiness and a few bumps, but Manuel’s mother persevered. 

Luck, unfortunately, ran out. The man driving the moving truck stopped his vehicle and left. The people inside speculated police stopped him or he walked into a store for supplies. Time passed and their fears began. The man left a truck full of people in a parking lot. The heat became a dangerous factor; people started to sweat and hallucinate. Manny’s mother began feeling ill. 

Her water broke and she sooner gave birth in the truck with the help of the other passengers. The woman ended up devastated knowing her child could not survive the heat. She later smiled and teared up as she hugged her newborn. Miraculously, her hands felt the baby’s cold skin. “I’ll warm you up. His name is Manuel Ramirez, please.” She spoke out loud in case anyone heard her. Because as she knew, Manny would be going alone from here on out. 

Police discovered the truck after a whole day. People died from heat and thirst. Medics spent their time helping the new infant. Some survivors made it out by sheer willpower. Once medical treatment had been provided, the doctors tried finding anyone of relation to the newborn. Many survivors spoke up and explained the situation. By law, Manuel managed to become a US citizen. 

With no contact regarding his father, social workers placed Manny in a foster home before finding him responsible and reliable foster parents. Manny’s foster parents did not have any quirks and did not expect to raise a son with super powers. His parents were Asian and happened to be elated just to have a child of their own. They did not think of him any different nor did they gave the quirk any acknowledgment. 

His foster parents did give provide him the necessary clothing for his abnormal body temperature. They focused on the boy’s scholarly achievements and cultural understanding. Culinary arts and piano lessons were sometimes part of the boy’s routines. Studying took place most throughout the day in order for Manny to achieve high grades, as recommended by his new foster parents. 
Due to the studying and scholarly childhood, he did pick up a lot of knowledge; however, he did not set out his interests toward art. With his more than average intelligence, he figured there was something different between him and parents. Manny confronted his parents and they agreed from the beginning that they would confess to Manny about his origins. They informed him of everything at the age of 10 (Manuel is oblivious.)

After telling him, they did force Mexican culture onto him. They did not want him to forget his origin country despite what happened to his real mother. His foster parents were concerned and informed him they did know of his last name. They wished to know which last name he was going to take. Manny, being at a young age, did not think highly of this. He chose both for his full name.From then on, he decided to become a hero. He could not help but think of the man that left his mother to die in a moving truck. 

His dream is to stop the crime organization located in Mexico and to find his real father.

On a more serious note, I think Ume and Namie hitting off on a friendship would be fun to see. Both of their demeanors would be very tomboy-ish in the beginning, and they both have a versatile quirk; perhaps Namie's confidence could rub-off on Ume over time. Who knows.
