Falkner's Pigeot crashed to the floor and fainted. "Gym leader Falkner is out of pokemon. The challenger from Alola is victorious!" Falkner retreated his fainted Pidgeot and walked over to his challenger. "You have earned this Zephyr Badge. Congratulations!"

Justin could be described as the weird-looking type. He didn't walk with a straight back and his eyes seemed emotionless at first, not exactly someone you would walk up to to have a friendly conversation. He was also rather pale considering he came from Alola, where there is lots of sun. But weirdo or not, Justin had just gathered his first Johto badge without breaking a sweat.

"Well done, Legba." Justin said to his trusty partner, an Alolan Marowak who looked just as creepy as his master. "One step closer to getting their attention."

Falkner frowned at Justin's last comment but he didn't bother to ask what he meant exactly. "So, Justin, I'm guessing you are going to face Bugsy next?"
Justin and Legba looked at each other without blinking their eyes, then they both nodded at the same time. "Actually, we are waiting for someone first."

AJ stared out into the water. It was so blue in this city. No matter how much he travelled he was always suprised at the uniqueness of each city he came across on his journey. He looked behind him at the Violet City gym where he had recently beaten Faulkner to earn his first Johto badge. He pulled out a metal case from his bag and opened it. Inside sat 16 gym badges, eight from Kalos where he was from and eight from Kanto which was the last region he visited. He smiled as he placed his 17th badge in its place, before shutting the case and retreating it to his bag.

"Come on Justin, its the first gym. It can't be taking you this long surely." he mumbled to himself.

As he did he was the figure of Justin make his way over.

"So you finally did it huh? Took you long enough to beat a few pidgey's" he chuckled.

Legba raised an eyebrow at AJ for the comment but Justin just stared at him without blinking. With Justin, it was always as if a million thoughts went through his head but none of them revealed themselves through facial expressions. "You know I don't like to hurt birds." he replied with a neutral tone.

Justin had earned a lot of badges in other regions before but he had left them all at home. In fact, he only brought his very first partner Legba. Justin has a very complicated past and he never told AJ why he was in Johto. It's not that he wanted to keep secrets but he didn't find the right timing to bring it up.

"Azalea Town is south of here." Justin wasn't wearing any shoes but no one had seemed to comment on it so far.
