Well, he's a [i]possessed[/i] puppet, so he's pretty autonomous. Like Chucky, only a puppet. Though, I was thinking about having it be kind of like a genie thing where if you can get a hold of his operating cross, he has no choice but to obey you. Other than that, he can do whatever he wants.
