In the year 2025 breakthroughs in genetic research allowed for medical advances that would aid in the healing process of broken bodies. This research was copied and sold on the black market to an unknown organization that sought to use that knowledge to create chaos. That organization's scientists spent five years working with the research materials to find a way to create superhuman abilities and give them to people. It took another five years for them to succeed in awakening powers without killing the test subject. Many people taken off the streets were given abilities that they used to make their lives better or other's worse. During this emergency the government approved of the development of the Guardian Initiative. Volunteers, trained in combat, were experimented on to produce the same results as the organization had achieved. It wasn't until 2040 that they finally went out into the field to aid in the clean-up of the city. For some time the strange criminal activity went down but in the year 2049 something began picking off Guardians. They started disappearing and returning half out of their minds or dead, and some were never found. Now one year later a new plan is being put into effect; The Guardian Angel Project. Special Guardians, referred to as Angels, were charged with protecting teams of Guardians as crime began a steady increase around the city.

The main plot line is for you as Guardians to weed out this organization and put a stop to the superhuman mischief. Smaller, divergent plot lines can be suggested at any time for review and discussion.

MY CHARACTERS:

Name: Silvia Blackthorne
Age: 19
Gender: Female
Appearance: 5'9"
Personality: Experiments to make her an Angel tried to remove her emotional response completely but only succeeded in suppressing them. She can't help but to be cold and analytical in both her words and her actions but secretly she wishes to understand the emotional connection other people have with each other. Silvia also has a strange fascination with music and human interaction, brought about by her wish to understand what she lost.
Power/Ability: Silvia was a failed experiment, unable to express a power during original testing. Discouraged, she volunteered for the secret Angel project where a chip was emplanted in her brain. Other sorts of testing worked at making her physically stronger. With no real power, Silvia depends on technology and her own two fists to fight off enemies.
In More Detail:
The Chip: This chip is emplanted in her brain to connect her with the city(traffic lights, security cameras, other chips...). This is standard in all Angel models though some may have a better knack at using it than others, and Silvia is one of those people.

Choice of weapon is a set of batons
Team: Alpha
Extras: Silvia's preferred past-time is training and will generally train alone, save for a brave volunteer, both instances accompanied by music in the background. She is also is obsessed with food, though doesn't understand why. If you've noted the young age, her father was a scientist working on the GA Project and used her as an illegal test subject. He felt extreme guilt afterwards and committed suicide, leaving her an orphan.
~Because of how in tune she is to her chip, Silvia is vulnerable to expert hackers. Any sign of hacking will automatically activate a fail-safe lock-down... Basically she faints for a little while.

Name:Cade Johnson
Age: 25
Gender: Male
Appearance: His eyes are red because of his angel eye tech and he normally dresses in black cargo pants and a black t-shirt with a black leather jacket(yes I know... that's a lot of black).
Personality: Cade is a spoiled rich kid at heart, having grown up in an extremely weathly family. He has a sly nature to him, always getting himself into fights and other such troubles, including altercations with the police. Never having been put in jail, he never got the punishment people thought he deserved until one day his parents had finally had enough with his sneaky behavior. They decided to send him to the military for 'obedience'training, where he struggled for a while to get his footing. This training opened his eyes to a whole new way of living, turning him into a respectable young adult. When he caught wind of the guardian initiative he signed up immediately to prove to his parents that he really had what it took to be responsible and to think of someone other than himself. Despite having been through his millitary training, Cade can still be mischievous and dark at times though always loyal to the mission. Attempts to turn off his emotional output failed and resulted in a slight dampering, though mostly ineffective.
Power/Ability:Cade is equipped with all of the standard Angel technology, however his body's reaction to the technology was less than satisfactory. For reasons unknown, his chip refused to work to full potential and will only communicate with his eyes and other technology in his immediate area. His wings, which are attached to his leather jacket, will not respond to the faulty chip either and must be activated by a fingerless glove he wears on his right hand. His guardian power was an experiment with predicting the future but was considered a failure. He has a slight intuition when it comes to battle situations but nothing beyond that. He is also engineered to be physically stronger than normal humans and has combat experience from training with the military. His choice of weapon is a set of plasma pistols used among normal police officers, can double as a Taser when needed. The pistols are powered by a special kind of battery(cause scifi is just cool like that).
Team: Beta
Extras:

ANOTHER NOTE: I have noticed a few people dropping by, probably noticing this for the first time, but I closed this to any more players. If you are really interested feel free to PM or post it here and I will add you to the list of people I will go to if the need arises. If you were not of the original interest thread, please do not just post a CS. Thank you.

Name: Rao
Age: 22
Gender: Male
Personality: Calm cool and scattered. Despite his appearance he over thinks most situations, trying to know more than is needed. He doesn't get upset easily but he can become a tad bit passive aggressive when he feels ignored. Hes easy to befriend and honestly hes too trusting, but he will give most the benefit of the doubt.
Power/Ability: His ability is a little on the stranger side. Tendrils of a still undetermined energy source come from the base of his neck, their range is limited to about 15 feet. In addition these tendrils can exert enough force to crush barrels or whip with enough force to knock the average man unconscious. There is potential for growth in the skill set.
Team: (I will give you this)
Extras: The tendrils can be used for fine movements as well. Often enough you can see him using them to type or even play games while his other hands are busy...It is believed that they may be connected deeply to his subconscious, as they tend to gesture and indicate what his cool exterior is hiding.

Its pretty rough but I figure you plan for us to flesh it out in game as opposed to 10 page long cs's XD

I have a question, if I can ask.

Since this is going to be taking place in the future, I'm assuming its going to have some Sci-Fi elements. Whats the tech level as far as prosthetic and artificial limbs go? I was thinking about making a character with one or two of them. Possibly making a cyborg like character.

I will be playing one of the two Angels(the other saved for Dubwarlock). My character will be lacking in emotion, not fully emotionless but extremely cold and analytical. Meant to be physically stronger than the Guardians because they were designed to combat whatever it is trying to kill them. Other than her, which information on the Angels and my CS will be up tonight or tomorrow, I will be in control of enemies special to the plot and the GA Project boss so that I can lead the overall plot where it needs to go and so that you aren't just fighting NPCs.

Right! Totally forgot to go over that. There will be some classic Sci-Fi elements to it, namely hovercrafts and communicator type things. More along the line of what you're asking about, prosthetics tend to give back more strength than the original limb lost. That list would include arms, legs, eyes and ear implants, not many others would give an advantage. Prosthetic body parts are kind of expensive so only generally wealthy people have them but it is very common to find some on the black market and especially with weapon-based alterations. One thing the Angels have is access to the city around them. Chips in their brains allow for them to do cool stuff which I will go into when talking about them later. Those chips are exclusive to Angels, while knock-offs can be found on the black market. I don't know about cyborgs as a Guardian though... I guess it would depend on what you wanted to do and why.

Ah, never mind with the Cyborg then. Just had a passing curiosity, so no worries. I already have most of my character right in my head, just gotta get it written down and a few last details of info~

Anyways, as for the prosthesis, I was thinking about having a character who lost her legs in either an accident some years ago, Or, if possible, she could be one of the original volunteers from 2040, who's mission went horribly wrong.

Kafele, "the Immortal"

Age: 19

Gender: Male

Appearance: Kafele seems to be, by all conceptions, a sheltered young man who doesn't speak besides in a timid manner. His hair length isn't long, neither is it short, windswept above his watery, ghost-white eyes. Aside from his small, rounded nose, the rest of his features remain hidden within his coat during any mid-cool/freezing seasons. He stands at 5'1'' and is typically noted to weigh less than a feather (if a feather were to weigh 120lbs). His hands usually remain uncovered at the ends of his jacket sleeves, revealing the smooth, lightly-tanned skin. His pants and boots always match the color scheme of his earth-toned jacket.

Personality: There isn't much to note of timid Kafele. In most social conditions, he prefers to stand aside, surveying the surrounding events. He speaks softly and attempts to keep eye contact as he was taught. During combat circumstances, however, remains to be seen among his comrades.

Power/Ability: "Cheat Death" - In the event that Kafele is the victim of murder by another Human being, Kafele is instead swapped with said being to avoid death.

Team: Beta

Extras: Previously a Guardian, though has been recently lifted to Angel status due to the Cheat Death augmentation. Vital organs have been introduced to "v2" upgrades, improving his endurance in cases of imprisonment. Flight, as is granted to all Angels, has been implemented as well, though a flaw has been detected and grants only bursts that can be related to "jetpacks" or "super jumping," granting enormous forward momentum whilst running or during flight. Kafele has been neglected in the case of any shielding upgrades, for an obvious reason.

That power is... weird. You mention how gunfire would cause Kafele to swap with the shooter, but what if it's aimed towards his legs only to cripple him? How would an attacker with a knife receive their own attack without their arm being ripped off/warped horribly when they swap places with Kafele?

Even with your example, the result is not an immediate, nor certain, fatal wound nor would it be likely that a robber would want to kill someone. You also mention how the action has to be pre-mediated. Later, unless you meant that the driver deliberately tried to run Kafele over, which since you used vehicular manslaughter implies they didn't, why would Cheat Death activate?

The switching in positions is not simply change in place, but also perceived as if Kafele has pulled of the action himself. I'll remove the "only" portion for pre-meditated attacks, as that was an early concept. Any action that could kill Kafele, in the case of bleeding out/internal organ damage that doesn't kill him immediately, is also affected by Cheat Death, even if a situation provides suitable medical care to prevent said death.

I'm interested if the whole genetics thing would possibly alter the appearance of the person being altered. I have an idea with feline DNA causing my character to grow fur, morph her ears, and grow a tail, while enhancing her flexibility and reflexes. A trade off for this speed is her strength. She has more fast-twitch muscle fibers, so while she can dodge quickly and sprint over 30 mph, she can't do it constantly for over a minute. Like a cheetah, a burst of energy before she is exhausted. On top of that, she can't hit very hard, and would rely on quick attacks and her agility to win a fight.

As for that cheat death thing, it sounds too overpowered to me. It's basically god modding. Also, why would such a power even be useful? most roleplays can't kill player characters unless the player agrees to it. So it brings up the issue of a player character trying to kill Kafele. What if that player does shoot to kill, but doesn't want to have their character die? It's unfair in that respect, because on top of the no killing player characters, the 'passive' kills the other person. If you say "Then don't try, and we're good." It's OOCly saying "Can't attack me!"

That's my opinion on that. Feel free to nit pick my own choice, if you wish. I'd be glad to converse, and let the GM decide.

There are many loopholes to Cheat Death, it's not like Invincibility is turned on. The GM has already looked over the power and approved it. If there is anything I didn't cover (I tried to cover any and every base I could), feel free to ask the GM for balance.

Eh, I'll be honest. The Cheat Death thing looks incredibly overpowered to me.

Yet, any fatal blow given to him by another sentient being is automatically inflicted on the attacker instead of him. Honestly, the 'Surely you have an idea of its limits now' thing sounds incredibly condescending and you're wrong. I don't see many downsides to this ability at all. Freak accidents could take his life, but what are the chances of a freak accident actually happening? Would the bad guys just have to lock him up until he starves or is killed by dehydration? Yeah, I believe that's the very definition of OP. Basically anyone who wanted to kill him, even through indirect means would still die or take his place. I don't have time to nitpick it this morning since I have college, but if you want to try to convince me otherwise, then it'll have to be until this afternoon.

If its already been accepted by Liberty, then I don't have much choice, but I'm telling you right now I'm probably not going to interact with your character unless I have to.

Anyways, speaking of characters, I meant to have mine up last night, but I got busy with studying for a midterm >_<
I'll have her up soon after I get home. I promise~

I agree with that statement. IF he's been accepted in PMs, then there's no real point in arguing about changing it. But I also don't want to interact with someone who can't die in a roleplay that involves conflict and possible death in combat. It's no fun when your ally can just walk up to an enemy and let them do all the work to kill themselves.

I'd just like to say, that seems to be, to be a bit of a radical thing to do. The avoid death power, could be quite good if used properly. Its just that some ideas sound a bit...bad, written sometimes and are better in practice. Perhaps I should have added that you could prove me wrong in the RP, or give me a practical example of where and when his power wouldn't be very useful. (As in, give an RP sample or something involving the power).

And I really shouldn't be on here during college >_>
