As a strategist, the she can always achieve optimal results (depending on the means at her disposal), perfectly anticipating all variables and her opponents' every move. These calculations can lead to extremely complicated planning in the long run, which always end up being successful.
She can instantly understand anything by perceiving all the causes/effects it is currently made of, as well as all the previous ones that lead to this state. BRIEF Bio - Born on the Isle of Wright Elli was your basic Chalk Girl till she went on holiday with her parents to London at the age of 12 years old. They toured all the accepted historical sights and were on the Tower of London tour when the group guide told the story of a Duke who had been held there before his execution and how he'd somehow escaped the Tower which to that day was a mystery.
Elli who'd been acting dazed since her group began the tour walked past the barrier ropes and opened a secret door which no one had ever discovered before then. When asked by her parents why she'd done it she replied "The ghosts showed her how the man escaped"
Her parents laughed it off as one of those strange incidents of youth and continued on with their holiday.
When Elli was 14 she had attended a movie in Cowes where her family now lived an was walking home when she heard an old woman in distress. Hurrying to see if she could help she came upon a distinguished couple one of which was the old woman and the other her unconscious husband. A constable was trying to help but couldn't understand the woman's language. 
Elli finds the officers statement strange because to her the woman is perfectly understandable. She tells the constable that her woman's husband suffers from a rare heart condition and that he forgot his emergency medication at their hotel.
The constable retains Elli as a translator as they rush the old man to hospital where they find out her is the father of the Visiting Spanish ambassador. The woman is his mother and she when excited speaks in a mixture of Spanish an Silbo Gomero which comes from La Gomera isle on the coast of Spain. The Ambassador is stunned that Elli can even understand the language much less communicate in it. So grateful is he that he insists that Elli and her parents join him on his official yacht were he awards her for her aid a medal for good citizenship an heroism.
At 15 Elli graduates from school with a perfect score in all her tests and is awarded a scholarship to Cambridge where she continues to shine.
She aces all her entry tests and quickly rises to the top of her class which ever one she might be taking. This leads to exposure to the spot light which she finds she doesn't enjoy at all because of the types of people that wanted to use her talents which she learns to tone down.
She begins to use the pseudonym Cypher when she writes papers to various journals to hide her identity 
Cypher becomes quickly responsible for translating many obscure archaeological languages that have bedeviled the discipline for over two centuries or more. She feels happy as her splash becomes a mere ripple on the waters and she's forgotten by all but her peers by the time she turns 18.
She is offered a Generous position to Harvard as a graduate student and accepts thinking it will help to distance herself from her reputation. She quickly makes friends among the others in her class and believes her life has turned around. 
The trouble begins that year as well when while visiting Boston a friend of her's is kidnapped by a serial killer and murdered, when asked by her deceased friend's mother if she'd help clear out her effect Elli volunteers and heads to Boston and enters the hotel room.
Try as she might Elli can't help but peek into the room's past using a power she represses most of the time and what she sees shocks her as she watches the whole thing happen before her eyes and sees the Killer.
Knowing that simply saying she saw the Killer using Psychometry won't bring him to justice Elli sets her intellect to work on a solution. She soon formulates a plan of attack that will cause the killer to confess or get sloppy.
She writes using her left hand and making sure not to leave any clues to her identity an sends him a letter detailing her friends an two other girl's murders saying she has evidence on him along with film. She then calls his cell phone using a burner bought for the purpose of catching him and using faked accent tells him that she wrote the letter and now he will do as she commands. She tells him she wants a certain girl murdered an once it's done she'll turn over the evidence, that girl is she.
She then writes herself a letter taking careful pains to forge the killer's hand writing which she's gathered samples of.
She calls the Boston police one night telling them she's received threats from a man claiming to be her friend's killer and shows them the letter.
The police and the Feds are happy when Elli volunteers to risk her life to catch the man and they set up a sting. Her friend's killer is captured three days later and evidence is found in his van linking him to two more murders.
Feeling good after helping bring the bad guy to justice Elli begins applying her talents to other crimes and developing the persona of Cypher as a crime fighter.
