I'm going to wait to see a few cards before I settle on a theme, I want a feel for the game first.
Warriors of the World’s End once fought wars for their nations, faded into histories myths and legends.
I find that sort of thing kind of boring personally.

LMAO! I should word that better, huh. I do not know how to word it. It's fine I suppose in that kind of world. Fate Stay is great!! But I was hoping to take inspiration from writing our own lore.

I would go with that personally. Inventing "Ancient heroes that changed the world through card magic only to be forgotten" feels more in keeping with the genre. Like how the none of the egyptian god cards in Yogioh were actual gods from mythology.
how much do we, as a group, want to focus on the duels? I’ve seen several approaches to the genre where the out-of-duel interactions are more important as opposed to the “dueling” being the most principal important factor. Will this have a school setting or a tournament setting or somewhere in-between? What is the hook, what brings the protagonists together?
@TheRedWatcher Do Warriors have to be Human? Because I was actually considering designing mine partially based on the Chinese fable of the white snake who attained a human form. Her leader unit would be her true form, while all her supporting units are just cast-off manifestations she's "molted." That being said, she'll probably have a playstyle based around lockdowns and ruthless attrition and being the last one left standing. Lots of counterspell type utilities to shut down enemy options, like preventing them from summoning or evolving units, and then sacrificing her own units for mutual destruction plays. Probably, her leader unit would get stronger the fewer cards are on the field, so she lets her own allies be destroyed so they can take her enemies with them - something like that.
We can further discuss your leaders and units. Because I like the idea that decks have themes. I'll also get a base character sheet up. Woo! This is exciting.
And you know what I want. A deck of light and dark themes.
2) What brings the protagonist together is that they all acquire in some mystery way a World of End card. They are a card that exist nowhere in the original print of the cards that currently exist. That have mystical powers. That tie to them an ancient tale. They will acquire a Warrior of World End as an alternative persona, like a ghost that takes over a host body when they duel or when there is an adventure that is going on or some kind of connection.
