An introduction to myself, and reflection regarding my experience as a roleplayer.

Hello everyone.

I'm fairly new to Forum RP's, although I have a vast experience with the RP'ing format in general. I'm currently at my 3rd (maybe 4th) year as an RP'er, and have since GM'd some of them.

I used to just roleplay in Facebook Pages, but I'm planning to move to Forum roleplays due to the selection that is currently here.

2014: My very first roleplay, called Gangyu University. This is where I learned most of my do's and don't's when it comes to being a proper roleplayer. By far the shittiest most unpleasant one I have. Some of us were new to it, too. We generally just fusterclucked for 10 months until we decided to end it. The setting was 4 rival gangs vying for complete school domination (This was meant to be slice of life. Take note of this category). 

We have then since learned to limit the RP to 8 weeks, because generally, plot was difficult to maintain considering how intense we roleplayes. We roleplayed everyday from 7pm to 12am barring Sundays, each reply cycle was 20 minutes. This excluded the 1x1 RP's we did on the side. we got so addicted that our GM's proposed to ban 1x1 RP's from 2 to 5am just so we had a reason to go to sleep

This roleplay ended when a giant satellite laser blew up a nearby school, and a teacher obliterated a building with his bare hands.

2015: Second roleplay is named Gaialdrin. This one was a medieval roleplay with no magic, and still somehow there was a man that turned into a plant and got blown away by the wind. No magic at all. Nope. This is also where I found out that being a GM has it perks... since we discovered that one GM was rigging her roles to always win their duels. That GM never apologized.

2015 pt.2: Garasu no Gakuen. Highschool slice of life rp. Knowing us, we twisted this roleplay out of proportions. Sure there was no magic but there was a Mafia and gang wars. The kicker? it was the highschoolers who were the gang heads.

....sadly I was part of why we had this conundrum. Because I was the one who instigated it.

2016: Grand Clockwork War. The Fate RP that everyone asked for. The best RP we ever had. Everyone was cooperating somewhat. And there's magic this time!! :D This is where I started being a GM, and I enjoyed working with my co-GM's.

Imagine if all the mana in the world got concentrated in a Reality Marble, and the only way to preserve that mana to slowly sustain a decaying world is to hold the grail war over and over and over again. That was our RP. Also, there exists a corrupted form of mana that would obliterate a servant slowly.

2016 pt.2: Tenshi no Teeze. College/ Psychological RP. (For those who are in B.U.M. RP I'm currently in, Abigail is from here) This is where I became the head of story and lore. And I bombed it (badly.) Can't say anything other than "If the GM's aren't working together, nothing will happen" We didnt align ourselves to a common goal and ended up getting scattered with the plot.

This RP focused on attaining the true self. Each night, a student's (host) consciousness is lifted from their bodies to interact with other consciousnesses. These beings are called Alters and are the manifestation of what that persons aims to be. People cried in this RP.

2017: Fall of Eden. Return of the Chuuni RP (Superheroes). Another great story. I was demoted to underling GM, but it was somewhat better and worse for all of us. The same people who were my problem in the last RP remained. They ended up not doing their role and it really fudged the plot.

2017 pt.2 (Unofficial): Akuma no Teeze. Ongoing, but is a prequel to Tenshi no Teeze. The guy I said who's twisting the RP out of place is now the head.

Suffice to say, it sucks.

Skills and Philosophy

I'm adept at doing both Slice of Life and Fantasy roleplays. Although, I enjoy playing as girls more often. (I believe they have more malleability when it comes to character development, which I value a lot.) I can also play boys without much difficulty.

I believe that a good roleplay will develop not only the characters, but the people playing behind them. There's always something to learn from other people-- but most importantly, it's how the thing is said.

Consent is key. Always.

Writing

I usually post in short bursts of sentences to make a coherent paragraph. I think this helps readers not get overwhelmed with what I type. Wall of texts are scary; Expect 2~5 short sentences from me

However, this also doesn't mean I won't give you details. I am fairly adept at providing all the necessary information to give a feel of my setting and characters, but I won't be detailing every freckle on their butt. If I do, then that means I consider that part about them integral to their character.

My reply cycles can range from 5~ posts a day, to as little as once every 2 days. It will depend on my work.

It irks me to read a highly-detailed explanation of an airplane, just for the heck of it. (Chekhov's gun) Although I still do fall for this, I try to make everything my character does and says relevant to who they are. However, if that airplane is going to be used, I'd rather sit through a detailed and concise explanation rather than a sloppy mish-mash.

Also, I'm not a fan of giving GM's full control on offing a character. I'm still unsure on how to deal with this, as the power may be abused. As I've said: consent is key. I know it may be highly improbable, borderline impossible to survive a bullet to the head, but I believe it is also unfair to say how a character is damaged /and/ tell them they can't play anymore. Once again, I'm unsure on how the etiquette for this goes in Forum RP's.

FONT COLOR

Please use colors that are pleasing to the eyes. this is much more pleasant to look at than this; general rule is to look at the font color. If it feels like your eyes are being raked from the sockets, use a nicer color.

Shortcomings

Despite being here, I actually don't like reading walls of texts. I might reply less often if that's the case

I'm a weeaboo. I use anime face claims as often as I can, and definitely when it's not preferred but allowed.

I tend to reply with short paragraphs, specially when I can't find an angle to inject my character into.

Cookie-cutter characters. I tend to not stray away from the characters that I am comfortable using, specially when I think I'm good at portraying that character already.

I’m not surprised to see your kind here. Many adventurers have traveled this way since the recent troubles had passed. No doubt you’ve heard about the tragedy that befell the community here at the Guild. Some say that the Guildfall, bane of role players, is slowly enveloping the community once again. I don’t know if I believe that, but I have noticed from time to time that posts or players will mysteriously disappear. They disappear without word and without notice, hidden by the leaders of our community. Maybe it’s nothing. But rumors and sideways glances seems to trail in their wake. You see, shortly before Guildfall had occurred similar disappearances were common as well and strange rumor began to ravage even the most common parts of the guild. But until more evidence is uncovered I’ll remain here within this community and so should you. You’ll find interesting role play ideas across all the various topics categories here on the Guild and a few of mine or ones that I participate in as well. However, I would make sure you save your own information before the shadow that fell over the Guild before the fall once again consumes us all. But if you’re still alive before then, I’ll be more than happy to accommodate any role playing needs you may have if I can.
