It's a small town, I don't think there would be public transit. I think people either work in town, and walk/bike, or else work out of town and drive.

Jason appears to be the odd man out with the Mazda, and Iikka has thus far either walked everywhere or mooched rides off of other people. And, since all of our characters can be expected to gain some bird morphs eventually, travel across long distances shouldn't be too big an issue.
