I'm looking for suitable images for the stadium/coliseum and having very little luck.
Initially I wasn't intending on doing anything with it, but now I'm thinking captured monsters are used in the arena similar to how lions were used in roman times. Watching two men brutalize each other for sport is fun, but watching a feral werewolf and a blood-starved vampire tear into each other is a whole new level of brutality. Also, this would allow for players to go into the arena and kick some monster ass on their own free time or just beat up/murder a few gladiators.
So if you have any good pictures/blueprints for the Rothenburg Arena, please share! Preferably with a built in dungeon for monsters and prisoners sake.

Turns out I studied history in college and my final work was done on Roman gladiatorial games. ;)

It doesn't really matter, but not all Arenas were what people expect them to be. The vast majority of them were small.

Actual Arenas (let alone the Coliseum) were not a very common things. Often, people organizing the games would just use the public square of the city and turn it into a kind of arena by having everyone find a place around it and that was it.

For a medieval city like this, I'd have to imagine it'd be relatively small. Politics changed and gaining favor of the wide public wasn't as important. In the feudal system only nobles and religious authority really mattered to please. So they'd probably be the only one to be invited, hence a smaller more enclosed arena.

RP-wise, that could also provide the perfect opportunity for Noble characters to meet common ones from either the hunter's guild or anywhere else.

I found two pics if you want - maybe you already seen them. ;) Nothing fancy, just general ideas of what it could look like

I was thinking the arena was more of a large, public square at first but was converted into an arena recently. It could be used for public trials and as a coliseum now that it's been converted. There could be cages/prison areas that they keep the combatants in that open to the coliseum itself.

It probably isn't used that much though just yet since things are fairly peaceful among the people. The King or noble houses could request that hunters go out and bring back some creatures to be used in the arena.

By the way, @AtomicNut Leon's profile is good. You can go ahead and post it.

So maybe we could have the Arena have a tunnel underground connected to the prison for easy/safer transport of "Gladiators" who are prisoners who have chosen to be gladiators for entertainment rather than rot away in a cell. The monsters could be a new way for the king to help distract the people, while also showing man can beat beast. Since trials are held in the Arena, it is essentially the court.

It can also be used as a way to empty out the prison when it starts getting full.

Any ideas where I could drop Leon?

I was going to ask if he became a member of the Royal Guard. If so, he could be in the city on duty. He could request transferring to the Hunter's Guild.

Or he could be on a hunt by himself or with a group of other guards. Hunting whatever you want to write about. I want to move the hunters back to the city to gather everyone together again but we have to wait until the fight with the vampires is over.

Well I doubt it. Do they take a suicidal depressed man who killed his entire family save his daughter when they all turned to be mad vampires? It could work though, if the whole thing happened recently and he's leaving the Royal Guards full of grief and personal demons.

@AtomicNut Haha, oh yeah, that's true. Well he could have been a member before all that happened, like you said. Or he could just be doing mercenary work after as a way to kill time and try to distract himself.

Ideas so far

1- Drama in Augsburg with his daughter and the rest of her family ribbing on Leon (with the guest appearance of Ivette?)
2- He is cashing the bounty for a "Wendigo". In truth it was a mangy bear with a sinister appetite for human flesh, but the mists and fearful peasants made a tall tale of what it was.
3- The Royal Guards are telling him to stop wallowing in self pity
4- Playing the "Black Knight" role in the arena for some extra coin. It's a fair sum, if you discount the fact people throw rotten food at you.
5- Getting drunk.
6- Cemetery Self wallowing in pity
7-

Let's do this. What a wonderful idea.

So there's Leon who brings a half dead bear into Augsburg's most renowned tavern claiming he is to get a reward after wallowing in self pity. The royal guards off duty tell him to stop wallowing in self pity and don't bother going to the cemetery. Then Drama happens.

The next morning he has signed up to be a black knight.

DEUS VULT!

PS: He still hasn't managed to get rid of the dead bear.

Oh just you know. Black Knights were the "stock villains" of knight tales. They were either knights doing stuff that ...would be questionable and thus wore no banners, or upjumped sellswords that painted their armors black as a cheap anti-rust countermeasure.

Posted the new royal notice. Once this hunt gets wrapped up, we'll skip to the next morning so everyone can be on the same page and start the day fresh. This will put us just a couple days after the death of the Trieste monster, so word of the guild's accomplishment is getting around.
(Credit Nymeria for making both Royal notices look so great!)
