Don't feel boxed in but if you do want to go that route feel free. Just make whatever character you'll enjoy most. 

I myself will also be using Hope (Red's sister) as a secondary character somewhat heavily and plan to make atleast one or two other sheets for whatever roles don't get chosen-good chance I will pick their gender based off of the guy to girl ratio we are at.
