Summary: A group of children awaken to find themselves trapped in a mansion. Outside awaits only the formless void-- there will be no escape. As they plunge into its depths, they learn their predicament is just the beginning of a maze so deep it may end in another dimension entirely. Who will become lost? Who will find a way to get back home?...Who does not wish to come home at all?
The nature of this rp is something that must be disclosed as early as possible to avoid confusion and dilemma:
Nethercrawl is a fantasy exploration RP with an emphasis on horror, surreal locations and minor game elements. It cares about your decisions and teamwork, and the only real dice roll is basically drawing from a hat: "what can happen next" or "where have they found themselves."
In Nethercrawl, the GM will play a Narrator character and can influence the game at any time. Let's just say they do not have your best interests in mind. From the moment IC begins, consider the Narrator your enemy. This RP contains locations and events randomly selected from a pool.
Randomized events are not public information but The GM will always attempt informative IC posts that describe locations and other facts. These can include lists of character interactions and atmosphere, attempting not to leave players in the dark.
The Narrator will not kill anyone or force them to do anything without precedent/discussion. But they will alter their environment without any notice, forcing your characters to always be ready to react.
Regardless, plenty of time should pass between major Narrator posts for your reaction time.
Discussion under the OOC label will never involve asking the GM Narrator what happens next. If there is an unavoidable issue, they will discuss and address. Otherwise, check the IC and your imagination for what you need. You may PM Marina Collie with anything on your mind or ask in the OOC if it isn't related to spoilers. To be frank- the GM will not always know what happens next until drawing from the pool. If they do, they may not want to share it with the ones they plot against.
Following the above bullet, all players may discuss whatever they want of relevance in the OOC for however long they want. In fact, getting somewhere may require OOC debate on occasion. Your teamwork disgusts the Narrator so keep it up. 46 104 111 106 108 109 98 117 32 113 32 112 32 117 32 116
The GM should be posting once or more every three days. Players are expected to show up at least once a week. Do not post for a straight week and your character will be made to disappear in a lore friendly manner. This grisly fate can be avoided if proper warning is posted in OOC or PM'd to Mariana Collie before you plan on an absence.
Follow Guild Rules and have a decent level of RP etiquette- at least two paragraphs per post. No powerplay, etc. 111 32 106 32 120 32 32 112 32 117 32 32 101 32 102 32 116 32 112 32 113 32 113 32 118 32 116 32 32 117 32 39 32 111 32 102 32 115 32 98 32 32 118 32 112 32 122 .
You're an average kid-- you never really believed that some boogeyman would steal you in the middle of the night. Horror stories might frighten you, give you a few nightmares, but you feel safe enough to sleep alone so the evidence must not be very convincing. One night, however, something will happen that rips that feeling of safety from beneath your feet.
Waking up in a mansion where shadows flee on the edges of your vision, there is no memory of how you got here. Dead air hurts your ears more than any scream. The lights will not turn on. There is only the flashlight you found on the bed, the candles scattered here and there. You come to discover others who have met the same fate.
Something moves insides the walls. Walking along the hallways, it often feels like the whole house shifts underneath. You try to call home...right, there's no power. You try to escape. There's nothing outside the windows. Nothing beyond the front yard that in itself is too intimidating to enter. If you were to try and take a leap of faith into the void, you may never stop falling. After the initial panic, you must get together with your newfound allies and form a plan.
Frenzied pounding on the doors, glass shattering. Someone has come to collect you poor children. No doubt with sinister motives. You have to run. But where?
There! That book with an unusual cover. Nova Fantastica. It may hold the clues that will open the lock on the basement door. Beyond that door lies a long lost, forever ruined realm that has been waiting just for you. True dreams will reveal your path through. But how deep are you willing to travel into this other world? It is not a very nice place. Those who live here call you Dreambreath and other nasty names. A lot of them just want to hurt you. The environment is not very friendly either- constantly changing beneath your feet into forms defying imagination. Even your own body has turned against you, producing painful magical effects difficult to control.
Yet...why do you feel like you belong here?

Below lies a character sheet and the relevant rules for each section. Below that, a sheet with information meant only for the eyes of the GM. Please place characters into a hider to avoid cluttering the Char list when we get to that point. PM characters to Mariana Collie for approval, and once main thread is up approved chars go in the appropriate tab. GM will be using this Int Check to judge the amount of characters interested before beginning OOC and IC. As well as knock out some early CS reviews.
(Insert here an image of your character. No anime or cartoon, though art with realistic touches is acceptable and even preferred over popular face claims. As long as it works for you.)
Name: Their first and last name.
Age: Only between the ages of 6-19. Younger characters will be allowed IF they have an older sibling/relative/friend along for the ride as their caregiver, which means two characters. Alternatively, you can roll the dice and see how long they'd last without, or ask another player to watch out for them. Keep in mind older children in the teenage range are here because of having a childlike heart and possibly childish mind.
Gender: Their gender.
Personality: Anything goes, within the realism expected of a human child.
History: Here can be placed a little backstory, like their parents, siblings, daily lives before getting involved in all this.
What's in their pockets? Anything that wasn't in their pockets or held in their hands will NOT be transported with them. If you really want them to have something, list it here.
The following is meant only for the eyes of the GM, please fill it out and send privately via PM following character approval. These things should be drawn out over time to develop. Answer in the voice of your character. It's okay if it's not serious as long as it fits their voice.
What scares you the most?
Do you love your family?
Are you, or would you be a good friend?
What was the best dream you ever had? Tell me about it.
Your worst nightmare? Tell me about it.
If you were all alone, who or what would you think of first?
What's the meanest, nastiest thought you've ever had?
Oh my, I have never seen anything like this before. How unique, and incredibly intriguing. I love horror of this genre but has never seen an RP that offers it. I'll start working on a character as soon as I am able, and will PM it to the designated location.
Quick bump to say thank you for the likes and interest. Reviewing some characters that were sent atm, working out kinks. Don't be shy, always welcome fresh blood more adorable little faces!
Three interested, two CS and one considering may be enough to start an OOC, see what happens then. However, for the sake of not getting too overwhelmed, that will wait for a few days as I work on it. When it's ready I will link it here. :) Consider this an update and a bump for stragglers.
Gotta a lot to catch up with all over, and the life of the GM is heavily problematic atm. However, we still want to keep this moving forward so don't lose hope. The status is "working on it," things related to the pool of events also have to change a slight bit as we are receiving mostly teenaged characters. If we receive all teenage, other things will change. But that's okay and it works. It just that altering one variable means sorting through the results of others related to the game.
I hope those interested will stick with us! We want to work hard to bring you entertainment.
