Second Name: N/A
Caste/Aspect & Exalt: N/A
Limit Break: N/A
Gender: Female.
Age: 24
Birthplace: The Imperial City, The Realm
Appearance Description: All Dynast children are the product of careful breeding, as the great Houses are always seeking to increase their progeny's chances of Exaltation, so it should come to no surprise that it's often the case that they often bear quite attractive figures and faces. Karilis, however, is not merely just another pretty face. Her's is a beauty that can captivate the hearts of most men with just the briefest glance of the shining violet eyes that, along with the fiery cascade of scarlet that flows down to the small of her back, make her near the spitting image of her mother,
The Mnemon. While this resemblance seems a cruel irony, given her current situation, Karilis still remains an absolute wonder of a woman, and she
knows.[Appearance 5]
In a more in-depth rundown, Karilis is a stunning woman, standing at a rather imposing 6ft in height with scarlet hair that falls down to her mid-back in silken waves, though more often than not she keeps it tied in a tight braid when she can, as it makes it much easier to manage in a fight that way. The piercings on her face are something that she got while traveling the Scavenger lands, preferring them greatly to necklaces and rings as a form of self-decoration. Her skin is bereft of any form of blemishes or imperfections, tho her time traveling Creation have caused her skin to become a shade darker than it normally would be if she had stayed within the wall of the Imperial city, as well as calluses earned from years of training in the martial arts. Speaking of her training, Karilis has not slacked an inch in the many drills and kata drilled into her during her training with her sifu. As such, her body is in great condition, with a lean, well-defined musculature and excellent posture. Not only that, but her figure is also quite curvaceous, boasting a generous bust and wide hips, filling out her tall frame quite attractively.
When it comes to her clothes, Karilis prefers to be more practical then showy(more due to the threat of exposure that more attention-grabbing apparel could bring rather than any true desire for it). As such, she dresses in a simple, form-fitting outfit, consisting of a brown cotton shirt, a leather jerkin, leather pants, and a hooded cloak, so that she can better hide her more defining features when in areas where someone might catch onto the family resemblance.
Gear: >A white Jade Reaper Daiklave, a gift given to her by her mother when she completed the first stage of her training in the Even blade style at age 16.
>Hawk Bracer: A magical artifact given to her as birthday gift from her betrothed, the bracer houses a larger than average talking hawk within the art that covers the front, which can be summoned with a word and is often used by Karilis to scout an area for possible dangers, as well as general companionship. The Hawk's name is Monty, and his general demeanor is one of sarcastic servitude, being absolutely loyal to his mistress, but not being afraid to call her out or speak his mind. Skills: While she could not fully complete her training, Karilis is a skilled practioner of the Even Blade style, her teachings under Lord [blank] giving her style a stern directness and savage efficiency that fits her forceful personality. Not only that, but Karilis is also a skilled essence wielder, Holding a rather impressive store of the life energy of creation within her, and the ability to wield it all with great ease[Essence:2. with Pool of 20]. Not only that, but she benefits from a full education from the Realm's premier military school in all matters of combat and warfare to go along with her more private teachings of diplomacy and statecraft from her elder relatives and (when she had time to spare), from Mnemon herself.
In the 4 years since her flight from the Imperial city, Karilis had learned a bit more about the world at large, including how difficult it can be to live without the luxuries she had often taken for granted. Never the less, she persisted and prevailed over the initial hardships, learning how to live off the land when staying in a town can be too dangerous, as well as gathering a rough understanding of Riverspeak. She isn't as fluent in it as she is in High realm, or even Low realm, but she knows enough to at least convey herself in an understandable, if basic, manner. Her familiarity with the written languages are about equal to that of the spoken languages.
Intimacies: Karilis is, beyond anything else, convinced that she is meant for greatness, and often feels the draw of this destiny with a savage strength that cannot be ignored. It was this pull that caused her to abandon her cozy life as a Dynast, the betrothed whom she truly loved, the sister she could never replace, to shame herself in the eyes of her family, to forsake any hope of ever being welcome in her house ever again. All of this sacrifice in search for this greater purpose that drags at her subconscious mind with an almost maddening fervor.[Destiny 5]
That being said, Karilis still cares deeply for her family, and even more so with her betrothed. So much so that, even under threat of her own life, she would not draw her blade against them. She knows that her mother cares little for her, that her sister probably hates her, and that her betrothed had likely found someone else to replace her in his arms, but none of these thoughts can make her forget the times they shared, however brief, times that she held close to her for heart like a lifeline because, truly, it's all she has left to hang onto anymore.
Personality: Karilis is not what one would consider. . . friendly. She is a woman of harsh and open opinions, always speaking her mind whenever she knows she can get away with it(and sometimes even when she can't) and never letting 'weaker'emotions like pity or kindness get in the way of her goals and ambitions. A strong woman driven by an immense will, with no qualms about hurting or coercing others to get what she wants(often times, she seems to get a rush out of exerting her will over others in such ways[Sadism]), Karilis is a person who should not be crossed or angered.
Too those who Karilis shows at least some amount of actual respect and whom she truly cares for, however, one will never find a more loyal and devoted figure. Karilis counts few people as being truly close to her, but to those she does, they see a much quieter and subdued version. She loses a lot of the pomp and circumstance that follows her every move, instead showing her to be a deal softer and less rigid. Her commanding demeanor wiped away to instead be replaced by a strict, stern, but ultimately fair and at times loving individual. This was the woman that her fiancé fell for, this was the woman whom her sister often saw when it was just the two of them alone. And both of them knew, no matter what, that Karilis would be more than willing to die for them, no matter what they did. Cause once Karilis lets someone in, it would take the gravest f betrayals to turn her love into hate
Biography:"You were born for greatness."
This single phrase, spoken to her and her sister when they were young by their mother in one of the rare instances that she deemed to make an appearance during their early youth. It was a simple, passing phrase, more a declaration of the strength of her own blood than any kind of praise for her daughters. And yet, those 5 words stoked a fire of conviction in young Karilis' heart, one that would quickly grow into an all consuming inferno of determination and dedication. The young Mnemon was an unstoppable force in her studies, taking to the skills of war and battle with a special sense of prodigious ease. In her early years of life, she proved herself to be a rather exemplary example of her House, a proud scion of House Mnemon who proved herself again and again in every class she took.
It was during her intense training in the House of Bells that she awakened her Essence at the age of 14, surprising her foe with a sudden swiftness as the life energy of the realm poured out of her in a somewhat dazzling display. For a moment, she believed that she had finally Exalted, but the disappointment that came when this wasn't the case did little to dampen her spirits.
"It's only a matter of time," she would often tell herself as she gazed at her reflection in the mirror. "You're the daughter of Mnemon,
grandaughter of the Scarlet Empress. But more than any of that, you are Karilis Mnemon. You were born to be great, and you
will exalt. It's only a matter of time. . . "
Unfortunately, as she reached her 16th birthday with still no sign of Exaltation, it became apparent that she was the only one who still believed that. She continued to perform well, but there was no longer any true cheer or praise. Some in her family offered small smiles and slight condolences, others seemed joyful that the bratty upstart had been denied the honor. And as for her mother. . . the look in her eyes when she glanced at her Karilis and her sister was not one of anger, or even disappointment. It was the look one would given an insignificant gnat, a mask of apathy with but a hint of disgust. So it seemed that the life of a patrician was to be Karilis' great destiny.
Part of her tried to come to terms with this, telling herself that it wouldn't be so bad, living her life as a(n)
insignificantpatrician. She could join the Imperial Legion, and with her skills, she'd no doubt be able to gain a high rank
but not as high as you deserve. She even managed to cheer herself up, thinking about her fiance, who stood by her still
out of duty and obligation, who held her at her weakest and told her
mockingly that everything would be alright. But try as she might to accept her circumstances, to accept that the her great destiny had been nothing more than a simple childhood delusion. . . the voices didn't allow it. The gentle voices that had whispered encouragement and confirmation through all her life suddenly turned on her with all the venom and spite they could muster, berating her fro daring to give into a world that would not acknowledge her.
"Greatness," they would hiss in silent, maddening tones,
"Requires pain. It requires sacrifice. It requires loss. You are destined, Karilis, for all of these things. You have no choice."And so, suffering in silence for risk of being labeled mad as well as an embarassment, she prepared to leave. She turned her studies to the schedules of the guards, to the charms that protected the estate from intrusion, to the movements of every Dragonblood she could. She stole from the kitchen constantly, always on the tail's end of exposure. For four years she prepared under the duress of maddened whispers, drawing away from both her sister and fiance(two people she loved dearly), fearing the pain that this separation would bring. Many times she wanted to stop, to throw all the planning away and forget about this plan entirely, her will unable to cope with the idea of it. But the voices were unrelenting and unforgiving masters, and she was a slave to their whims and words. It had to be done, it must be done, for it is destiny.
And so, on the eve of her twentieth birthday, Karilis left the her home and never looked back, for the voices wouldn't let her. And so her travels would take her across the sea and to the east, where she was promised her destiny would be waiting by the voices in her head. Until that pint, she put the skills honed into her from the House of Bells to slay bandits for local peasants, making some name for herself as a small bounty hunter It was the path to fulfill her destiny, as the voices would tell her, and over her four years in the wilds of the East, she grew to believe it even more whole-heartedly than ever before.
She had to.
If not, then the emptiness inside her heart would consume her in it's entirety.
Other: Karilis isn't afraid of spiders. . . she just things they should no their place and keep about a mile distance from her at all times. On an unrelated note, her white jade daiklave makes a wonderful bug swatter.
Karilis has a collection of mystery novels that she took with her on her travels and is an avid reader of the genre.
Fully believes in the Immaculate Faith, but isn't as diligent a practicer of their vitures as she'd like most to believe
