Even Sevens is unfathomably wealthy and has a reputation in Kanto as being the luckiest man alive. He is considered the Casino King of Celadon City, hence his name, Even Sevens which refers to the three lucky sevens of a slot machine. He has amassed a ridiculous amount of riches from gambling and has used his money to fund his thrill seeking lifestyle. As a young man who enjoys extreme sports, signing up to become a Snow Ryder was fulfilling a craving to push himself to the limit, after all, he certainly doesn't need the pay cheque. 

Even Specializes in rodent Pokemon and as a gambling man has equipped them with daring moves that rely up on luck. His signature Pokemon, Rattata, even has the ultimate in risky moves, Final Gambit. His relationship with his team is heartwarming. Since his Pokemon often use moves that result in recoil damage it's clear they have an extraordinary amount of trust in Even.
