From Lesina's backstory: "The next phase of her life took place in a Hylian Barracks. She was raised by all of the Knights, Squires aspiring to be Knights and so forth. As soon as she could walk the young squire was running errands for members of the Barracks. The instructors taught her to run, climb, crawl, carry weight, preparing her for the day she was old enough to begin combat training. She started training for combat at the ripe age of 10 with all of the other young men. They were taught how to polish and maintain armor, sharpen blades, fight with a sword and repel with a shield"

"Originally, the path the Hylian Army intended for Lesina was that of a healer since she was a woman"

"Eventually, the Squires became too easy and too soft to prove an adequate challenge. So she began training against fully fledged Knights."

@Inkarnate

I didnt think I'd have to say "By the way, Lesina is a member of the Hylian Knights/Guards"

Might be a good idea to sit on our hands and chill until the GM's around.

Getting too chaotic won't be good for keeping us going.

Idk if my posting was too soon, wanted to get it out before I crashed so Turok wouldn't be left too far behind whilst I sleep. Hope that's alright!

Lesina was robbed from the cradle at birth during the Hylian-Gerudo war and then made to serve in the Hylian Army when she came of age. She fought small battles with her Troop under the command of Commander Gerald (who will be mentioned eventually) and became the second-in-command of that Troop. It's not really an important title that would make her famous, but when the war ended she was largely sent back home to fulfill whatever duties the Kingdom is asking of her at the moment. There's most likely more than one gate to watch, right? I didn't specify that she was guarding the literal castle gate, it could have just been Green District.

Sibela likely could have met Lesina during her Squire training if they were in the same Barracks as young girls. If you want Sibela to know about Lesina, that wouldn't be unlikely. @Inkarnate

Wait, wait, robbed from the cradle during the war? As in, from the Gerudo Valley? Because, hrm, if the enemy was able to successfully sneak behind the Gerudo frontlines (which I imagine were centered around the narrow entrance to the place), why would they steal a baby instead of, well--- anything that would aid in the war effort? Killing important people or blowing things up, etc.? Risking your life carrying off a random baby in the middle of a war doesn't sound like the smartest of plans.

Well truthfully the GM and I talked between PMs about what I could do. We finished the CC like 2 days ago, but then I didn't post it in topic because I was confused about where to go with it for posting so I finally found the character section tonight...and posted it.

I really do apologize for the inconveniences I've been causing everyone.

I’m going under the idea that guards are a different hierarchy than the knights, as in medieval times they often were. The GM would have to elaborate or correct us on this. But yeah, like I said I’m sorry if I sound pissy but I just came back from D&D to a “by the way your character archetype you have had since the start of the RP is also held by this new person”. This is nothing against you personally, but you have to see how I could be moderately upset by such a thing. We obviously built different characters (mine is more defense, yours is more attack) and I am sure we'll get beyond this and have fun in due time.

But I'm still gonna be buttmad for a few hours when I think it is unfair and not fonz cool.

I basically feel like I adjusted my character for this and my role isn't important anymore.

Do you guys usually have a character's entire history in their bio? Where I've RPed we usually have a flair for...surprise and drama to entertain everyone. It would kind of spoil the story if we told everything indirectly, wouldn't it? There's more to Lesina's story.

It’s generally not appropriate to leave out information in a character application. Plenty of GMs have different standards and things can obviously be elaborated on, but yeah kinda.

I mean... its called the 'background' for a reason right? I personally find that there's no reason not to tell the majority of your character's story in the bio. I mean, it fleshes out your character more and makes it easier for us as players to understand. Its not like you really need mystery and mystique in your character's background, mystique comes from how you play your character in the RP itself, yaknowwhatImean?

Well, I'm not quite sure how to respond to this. That's the way we've always done character development on forums I have visited.

Ultimately I don't think its that big of a deal, the party is massive enough that some overlap in roles is bound to happen. I mean, armored warrior is a pretty typical archetype.

Not to mention the drama of people not being in the know doesn't come from players not knowing: It's the characters not knowing. Everyone being in the know OOC leads to being able to pin more dramatic situations where certain past events are exposed to the group

Like Dekkunda being a princess-kidnapper according to his king. Nobody knows that, and won't unless we go to the deku palace. But everyone knows he did it out of character, so its not a curve ball problem out of nowhere later

Well, it's just that my character is also a Gerudo, who is around the same age as yours. So if the enemy managed to sneak into the Valley during the war to steal a baby, that's something that would affect the entire village and, by extension, also my character.

There'd just be a lot of questions, ICly and OOCly. How did they manage to do that? Why did they steal this baby? Why didn't they do something else? Did they do something else - because if so, I should know to add to my history. It would be a bit cumbersome to find out halfway in the rp that there was actually a big event at the Gerudo Valley that I was not aware of, even though my character should have been.

I don't mean to come off as mean-spirited or anything, by the way, and I apologize if I do! I'm just genuinely confused by what I know of the events, and not sure how/what to include in my history, which I'm writing right now.

Changed my color from goldenrod to D2A762 so not to avoid confusion with @Noxxis' character's dialogue.

Yeah, I just expected everyone to fill certain roles within the roleplay, but I also expected it to not have this many characters in general. My issue isn’t the “armored warrior” trope. My issues is the “very specific Hylian Guard” archetype. Like I said, it is likely not a long-term issue but rather a short-term one where I will remain upset throughout the morning because it genuinely surprised me and kind of feels like it dismisses my capacity within that role of being special in the context of the story.

Basically, it feels like a “well fuck you then, Ink” which I suppose I should be used to.

Getting back on the note on how we are going to sneak through the castle. I actually like the appeal of moving a large unorthodox group through the castle and really curious on how we do it.

If anything everybody just stick close to Mister Zwei The Illusion Man and act natural-

I'm still at a bit of a loss on what to do with the history now, but I really want to get it done so I can join the IC mischief. So err, for now, I'll just write it with no mention of the entire event, and will edit things accordingly when I get some form of clarification. Hopefully that's not a problem.
