@tobiax Her name was deliberately similar to Carol Danvers! But only for cosmetic reasons.

I'm not tipping my hand on some things yet, but no, simbiotes aren't common knowledge, though they aren't deep government secrets either. It's out there for people to know, if they're in the right circles.

@Gisk One question that's actually beginning to arise in my mind is where are we looking at in regards to a relative Spider-Man timeline? How long ago did Peter get his powers, and how well known is he? Is he flying around with the Avengers and shit now? And how prevalent are other Marvel heroes and villains? Just small things I was hoping to get fleshed out a little more in preparation for my next post.

@webboysurf Spider-Man is definitely well known, he works with the Avengers, but not always.

Heroes in general have been rising to prominence in the last 20 years, the Avengers went public with S.H.I.E.L.D. about 15 years ago. Spider-Man has been out and about for the last 10 years, half of which he’s been pretty famous for(thanks to Stark’s sponsorship).

Peter Parker is now a senior in college.

I love that it looks like most people are gonna be good little schoolkids and go to school after getting sick and finding out they have super-powers.

For Tess it's not about being good it's about the government sponsored free meal. That and she wants to interrogate the bastards who got her sick.

@Gisk Not a big deal, but you may have used the wrong "weight" at some point in that post. I thought I'd mention that. No judging, mistakes happen.

@Burning Kitty Your character’s spot on deductions are pretty unrealistic, it just comes off kind of meta-gamey.

Connecting the sickness with the powers is perfectly reasonable, but jumping to the conclusion that it’s a parent of one of the students specifically working on a super soldier program is just a ludicrous cognitive leap.

In this world the government had a super soldier program that was not a secret, corporations that have CEO/Presidents as heroes (Iron Man) & villains (Green Goblin).

So if believing the sickness gave her powers is perfectly reasonable, then the only plausible explanation is cosmic radiation, mutant, government, or corporate.

She knows she isn't a mutant and has never been in space, that only leaves government or corporate. Unless you want to create random spontaneous mutancy in nonmutants or cosmic radiation storm on Earth that somehow never made the news as legitimate & ludicrous things then be my guest.

Until you can provide a "better" option for her to believe then it is staying.

@Burning Kitty@Gisk Ok so to solve this just cut out the parent thing. Kitty it is logical to assume that this is corporate or government but jumping straight to a parent did it or is involve is not. Also sicknesses can cause mutant genes to activate. Doesn't have to be stress from life.
