Best Character Development: Thor (Lord Wraith)
It may be a bit of a slow burn compared to most of us jumping out of the gate, but Donald Blake's struggle with the identity of Thor-- and his literal struggle with Victor Creel-- has been very entertaining and engaging, with a very clear before-and-after, whereas a lot of us (myself very much included) have been more focused on future setups and plot-navigation and made our characters more or less fully-formed out of the box.
Best Character Development: Thor @Lord Wraith
Andy sort of aped what I would have said (Damn you!) but it bears repeating. You're doing a great job with Blake/Thor and their development. You're not rushing yourself and letting us get to know his world before you blow it all up to hell and back. Snaps to you.
Best Character Development: @Lord WraithIt’s already been said here by Andy and Byrd, but it bears repeating. The slow burn development of Blake/Thor is a brilliant read, made all the better in my opinion by the obvious divide between the two personalities. They feel and read like two separate people, which brings a wonderful dichotomy to the table.
Best Character Development: Lord Wraith's Thor. As someone who usually doesn't enjoy Thor as a character, if I'm being honest, it's always nice to see someone make a character I don't enjoy required reading.
Best Character Development: @Lord Wraith and Thor.
Most you guys know that I have a soft spot for playing Hulk, and the main reason is that is because I like illustrating the fight between the two Psyches. I've loved Wraiths posts so far with the introduction of Thor rapidly and suddenly, to then have the entire identity of Donald Blake fight back thinking it's some form of psychosis. That's the kind of depth you aren't really going to get in anything you see Marvel doing today cinematically and it's not really a concept that was played with Donald Blake in the comics. Whereas once Thors subconscious was unlocked that was pretty much it. I look forward to seeing the two fight it out more, seeing a psychiatrist try and sum up what is going on and maybe even for the two of them to have a long hard earned discussion.
Best Character Development:@Lord Wraith
What everyone else said is pretty spot on. Thor's had a good journey so far and I'm curious to see how the pieces all fall in place. I think he's probably the character I'm most curious about in terms of the end of his starting arc, which is saying a lot since everyone here has brought their a-game.
Best Character Development: @Lord Wraith's Thor
Yeah, like Henry, everyone has said exactly what I wanna say way better than I can and really, I'm not gonna try with this one, because I know I'd butcher it. All I can say is Wraith, I've seen you write some good characters, but this... This is the best.
Best Story: @Lord Wraith – Blake Donaldson/Thor
It's been a real pleasure to watch Blake Donaldson grapple with godhood – and to watch his understanding of it evolve in real time. Is he Thor? And if he is Thor, is he no longer Blake Donaldson? That dynamic has been really interesting to see play out and I'm really excited to see where else Wrath goes with it. I'm really emotionally invested in Blake Donaldson as a person – more so than I am Blake as "Thor", actually – and seeing how the mythology has been interwoven into small-town America has been fascinating. So, keep up the good work.
The John Lees Memorial MVP Award: Either goes to @Lord Wraith
I can't remember which one of you fuckos it was but stalking your profiles is what got me here, so thanks for that.
The John Lees Memorial MVP Award: @Lord Wraith
I'm of a firm mind that an RPG thrives on a healthy OOC thread just as much as an active IC thread, and if I had to choose one player who stands out for being a great presence outside of the game, it's Wraith. Never afraid to poke fun at anyone, including himself, he always lightens the mood considerably whenever things seem at their most tense and really makes my task as GM alot easier. There are alot of people that also help to smooth things out, such as my Co-GMs, but Wraith is an all-around cool dude who seems capable of getting along with everyone regardless of the circumstances. I think that if he wasn't around, keeping the game going even this long would've been a real struggle.
@Lord Wraith’s Thor. I’m a sucker for Norse mythology, and Nate’s heard a lot about it from me, lol, so much that I’m surprised (and glad) that he isn’t sick of me yet. And even though his Thor takes more influence from the comics than it does the myths, I’ve been having a blast reading about Blake and Thor, and can’t wait to see them further along in their journey.
Best Character: The Punisher (@Simple Unicycle).
Honestly, this category was the hardest for me to decide on just one, as there are any number of characters who came to mind. Thor (@Lord Wraith), Superman (@AndyC), and Blue Devil (@Retired) being just a couple that gave me a hard time here.
Best Post: Lord Wraith's Sex Scene
Best Sex Scene: @Lord Wraith, he teaches us how it's done.
Thank you all for the nominations and kind words. I am overwhelmed by the love and praise shown towards Thor especially after my brief dry spell. I'm not going to lie, it's very nice to be complimented on the slower pace of my arc as I feel at times as though it's a real chore for you guys to have to read through. So it's very nice to have that kind of writing rewarded with your recognition and praise.
It's been a real pleasure being part of this game, a game I struggled to join at first due to the history of these kinds of games as of late. But being here with all of you has encouraged me to continue posting and stay focused and dedicated. The amount of posts I have so far and the fact I have completed an arc are huge personal landmarks and firsts for me and I want to thank each and every one of you for your support, and enjoyment.
Special mentions to those of you who have spent hours brainstorming with me, editing, just generally listening to me rant. Without you guys, Thor wouldn't be half of what he is.
