Going to finish Bekka's fight up tonight and move on to a slight time skip that implicates some shenanigans with some crossover potential.

@HenryJonesJr This happened I guess

So, as a result of the discussion of a bunch of us lamenting concepts that we'll never get to explore in this game or anywhere else due to the commitments of a game of this nature, that being the very nessescary need for UOU to carry on as a single player game... there has been an awakening.

Have you felt it?

I wrote up the first half of my next post the other day. Got interrupted by something and have been busy dealing with it since then. Will get it finished tomorrow, though.

Now, for the edgiest thing I've said all week: Even with the degree of negativity associated with the event, I don't regret Robinson Park had happened IC, in spite of it being quite contrived.

I don't know what this means but since I'm feeling contrarian I completely agree.

Yes I was. I was there: Twice. As a Talon and as a GL.

The entire roleplay was unneeded, my friend.

That RP is incredibly influential and important, so no.

What was Robinson park and why does it keep coming up?

First UDC crossover event. Black Mask had distracted Batman with bombs planted all over the city that would blow in 24 hours. The Joker decided to use the crisis to promote anarchy and chaos with everyone coming to Robinson Park to burn money. Two Green Lanterns, The Question, Talon, The Teen Titans, and a few others decided to show up. It was a mess and a lesson of "just because you can doesn't mean you should".

You mean to the twenty of us who participated? For it's significance in our respective psyches and cosmologies. I suppose that without it I never would've developed as a philosopher, as I have (as pretentious as it sounds, I do mean philosopher--not sage) because I wouldn't have researched Snyder's predecessor, Morrison. I loved it, and would gladly crash it again with a third character, but I can't place the sovereignty of that exchange between the lot of us above the entropic psychic bioweapons we tout today.

The people I met through the roleplay (yourself included) provided emotional support at a trying time in my emotional development. So I suppose, sure, it cemented certain bonds that I consider worthy of maintenance, and was therefore worthwhile. It was influential and has shaped a literal dozen or more games that followed in it's wake, therefore being important in the canon of a decidedly non-canon meta-canon, but I can't say it was necessary.

We all live. We all die. Regardless of whether we eat, sleep or have shelter (or thought-provoking entertainment that provides a sense of accomplishment or self-worth). Do we need life? If we're just bullets in the wind, waiting to rot in the dirt between the bones of whatever corpse we plant ourselves in.

I don't think that the game itself, an infinite game with no winning conditions, can really be called necessary. Well, I actually do suppose that it existing on this board was necessary to inspire the rest of us to imitate it's trappings to this day. But it's all for naught, really. Not that it being unimportant makes it any less personally valuable.

I suppose my gripe here is really that necessity is often treated as something concrete that is absolute. But priorities--each man must arrange his own priorities, making their value as steadfast as an ice cream cone under the sunshine. I like ice cream. I like life. I like death and I evidently like rambling about the ultimate insignificance of everything I would love to last forever.

It should be noted that when the Joker said "everyone," the implication was "the nameless rabble of NPC civilians that the Joker was starting to influence into doing increasingly chaotic things," and that it would simply be a one-off post to further that story arc while Batman was doing other stuff. Somehow it became a completely overblown battle royale and I ended up scrapping the Joker's plans altogether.
