Mm, good method. Of course, anything you worry might conflict with lore or other characters... Talk to them before making it canon. Its always good to talk to the GM before making decisions that -could- be off-character for someone in the story. Last thing I want, and likely everyone else, is to look like an ass when something doesn't add up, aye? : P
I agree. I was referring to instead of explaining In detail what happened just give an overview. Like for my character for example. Could have gone into detail about the day his father died, how it affected him emotionally and where he was wounded. We all understand that must be a dramatic experience and the lack of detail gives the author material to use in the rp. Better example? He lived in the capital with his mentor for 9 years, probably living in the castle he knows the queens very well due to his mentors station and he basically follows him everywhere cause he is an apprentice, also the castle though massive is still a small place essentially but no need to go into details on how well because it's given to a point. But of course it's always fun to read about a history of a character, so there is no right way of doing it :) Edit: also when including other npcs like the queens it's better to be vague so you don't make an ass of yourself making stuff up that's not there. course you can get it cleared by the to gm or other player just more effort but that's besides the point! :)
