You sympathize with their struggles, their fears, you cheer when they win and you cry when they lose. I don't define the best character as the best written, I don't take the technical side of writing into consideration when I think about this award. Instead, for me, this entirely based upon my individual enjoyment while reading a post that features this character. For that reason, I have to put forth [@Master Bruce] as the Batman. Of all the writing in the RP, this is one I'm constantly finding myself blown away by. I can never predict what's going to happen next, I was so sure we were going to get Ignatius Oligvy that I never once considered Penguin was Meredith. Kudos to you, Sir and I am very much looking forward to next Season.[/sub] [b]Honorable Mention:[/b] [sub][@HenryJonesJr], I may not be a teenage girl, but reading Gwen's posts certainly does trigger a certain amount of relatability each time and I enjoy reading her struggles. I can't wait to see what you do with her next season.[/sub][/cell][/row][row][cell][img]https://i.imgur.com/MHqullb.png[/img][/cell][cell][b]Best Character Development:[/b] [sub]Character development is a hard thing to do consistently. A lot of people are very good at starting out with a concept and working towards it, but whether its impatience or lack of interest the idea either jumps forward or stagnates. Thankfully, we haven't had that problem in this game and nearly everyone has done consistent development with their characters. But there's at least one example that stands out to me. For that reason, [@AndyC] comes to mind for this one. It's been a lot of fun to not just see Superman grow this Season but also to see his supporting cast, particularly Lois grow with him as well. With the threat of Brainiac on the horizon (I picked up what you were dropping), I am looking forward to seeing Superman continue to grow and eventually don the suit (And maybe come to blow with Thor at some point).[/sub] [b]Honorable Mention:[/b] [sub][@Simple Unicycle], seeing Frank's journey from New York to L.A. has been a lot of fun, and I'm excited for whatever or whoever you play in Season Two.[/sub][/cell][/row][row][cell][img]https://i.imgur.com/ujTiytR.png[/img][/cell][cell][b]Best Season:[/b] [sub]This is the first successful iteration of one of these games I've ever had the pleasure of participating in. As such this is the first time I've ever been able to look at a player and read a full, successful season. For this award, I'm looking at players whose characters completed a greater arc over the course of the last three months. Sometimes there's a standout post, sometimes there's a standout arc, but for this I'm looking at the season. And there's only one person who truly fits the bill, [@Eddie Brock] your season might have bit shorter than most but it delivers more than most. It ends on such a high note, I can't wait to for Season Two.[/sub] [b]Honorable Mention:[/b] [sub][@Superboy], you came out of nowhere and ended on such a high note that I wanted to take a minute to congratulate you for making me care about Blue Beetle of all characters.[/sub][/cell][/row][row][cell][img]https://i.imgur.com/jpoM5vy.png[/img][/cell][cell][b]Best Story Arc:[/b] [sub]There's an art to getting a story right in a handful of posts. Some people have it, and some people don't, and that's okay but this award is for those who do have it. There's been one individual who stuck with us the entire season who has mastered the art of the arc and has likely produced the most arcs over all. I am of course talking about [@Byrd Man] with his numerous John Constantine arcs. It's hard to narrow it down to a single arc but I do think that 'London Calling' sits up there as one of my favourites.[/sub] [b]Honorable Mention:[/b] [sub][@Hound55], it's been a slow burn but the process of watching Marc Spector become the Moon Knight has definitely been a worthwhile one. Interested to see more arcs unfold in the future.[/sub][/cell][/row][row][cell][img]https://i.imgur.com/L6LFrpM.png[/img][/cell][cell][b]Best Post:[/b] [sub]Picking a Best Post is one of my least favourite tasks, especailly in this RP where each post is always better than the last. As such, I had to take a skim back through the IC and think about the posts that really caught my attention. The problem is that there is a handful of posts that contend for this title. There's Gwen outing herself to her father, there's literally anything involving Guy Gardener and Ben Grimm, and of course there's now Penguin overtaking Gotham City. So, [@HenryJonesJr], [@Morden Man] and [@Master Bruce], take a bow.[/sub][/cell][/row][row][cell][img]https://i.imgur.com/CQoR5x1.png[/img][/cell][cell][b]Best Antagonist:[/b] [sub]Wihtout a villain, we can never see how good our heroes really are. Often times, a hero is defined by their villains and as one should expect with a season with this many posts, we've seen our fair share of villains. Some make our skin crawl, some make our blood boil, and others we simply love to hate. There's been Toy Man, Lex Luthor, Clayface, Poison Ivy, Reverse Flash, Hydro Man, the Enforcers, Black Tarantula and so many more. To crown one of these the best antagonist is not easy. But when it comes to being bad, no one does it quite like [@Master Bruce] with special mention to Edward Nashton.[/sub] [b]Honorable Mention:[/b] [sub][@HenryJonesJr] and the scheming Otto Octavius also has a very special place in my heart.[/sub][/cell][/row][row][cell][img]https://i.imgur.com/0yTgxe7.png[/img][/cell][cell][b]Best Supporting Cast:[/b] [sub]There's one person that jumps out immediately for me when it comes to supporting casts because when I read his posts, I don't know which characters are secondary and which are primary. If he writes them, they get their time in the spotlight, they're never bland and always three dimensional. [@Morden Man], take a bow for finally writing a version of Guy Gardener I can enjoy reading about. Not to mention the numerous other supporting cast members who have come in and out of the Fantastic Four's life.[/sub] [b]Honorable Mention:[/b] [sub][@Eddie Brock] with the Avengers of course.[/sub][/cell][/row][row][cell][img]https://i.imgur.com/6Q0RohJ.png[/img][/cell][cell][b]Best World Building:[/b] [sub]This one is a lot of fun to look at because it's less focussing on the characters we're portraying and more on the world we're portraying them in and how easily can someone step into our world and make it all feel like on cohesive RP. It's hard to maintain a consistent tone with so many players and two massive universes meshed into one. But there's one player who expertly handled the entire magical side of the RP all Season. [@Byrd Man] I am once again talking about you. Whether it was London or Los Angeles, we were never at a loss for detail as your introduced character after character and somehow never left us wanting when it came to knowing who a character was and what they were about. City after city, story after story, the quality and depth of story telling remained the same.[/sub] [b]Honorable Mention:[/b] [sub]I feel like I need to highlight both [@Eddie Brock] and [@Morden Man] here again and the excellent job their both did at fleshing out the world around their characters. Both have very strong supporting casts as previously mentioned which certainly lend to developing the world around them.[/sub][/cell][/row][row][cell][img]https://i.imgur.com/Wj8XqpR.png[/img][/cell][cell][b]Best Crossover:[/b] [sub]I think most of us would agree that the age old trope of two heroes meeting and fighting is pretty tired by now. So when it comes to Crossovers for me, anyone who subverts that instantly catches my interest a whole lot more. Of course there's exceptions and other reasons why two 'heroes' might fight but at the end of the day, it's not my favourite cliché. So for that reason, [@Morden Man] and [@HenryJonesJr], I'm really happy to say that your heart to heart between [s]MJ[/S] Gwen and Johnny was definitely my favourite Crossover of the Season.[/sub] [b]Honorable Mention:[/b] [sub][@Superboy] and [@DocTachyon] you're my running up with Cowboys and Aliens because it was almost too perfect of a set up.[/sub][/cell][/row][row][cell][img]https://i.imgur.com/ELC2m1L.png[/img][/cell][cell][b]The Ultimate Breakout Character:[/b] [sub]I decided not to do a second round of the Best Character Concept because there ultimately wasn't that many new applications in the second half of the Season. Instead, I decided to re-evaluate the cast and see if there were any characters who were surprising me, subverting my expectations. [@Superboy]'s Blue Beetle has quickly climbed priorities in my pull list, for me, Blue Beetle is definitely my break out character because unlike a lot of the other characters he doesn't have wide spread success to create a draw to his stories. [/sub] [b]Honorable Mention:[/b] [sub][@Roman] with Daredevil, what you have is great buddy, but I need more![/sub][/cell][/row][row][cell][img]https://i.imgur.com/850ph3b.png[/img][/cell][cell][b]The John Lees Memorial MVP Award:[/b] [sub]Not to undersell the tremendous work that [@Master Bruce] does for this game, but I know for me personally, that everything I have done in this game would not have happened if it wasn't for [@Morden Man]. On top of his duties as one of the game's Co-GMs, Morden acts as mine and at least a few other players' sounding board for all of our hairbrained ideas. Whether it be me randomly killing Heimdall or introducing Cassie Sandsmark as Thor's kid, Morden has dealt with all of this and many more and still is here, sane and kicking butt as both the Fantastic Four and during the MMEs. So thank you Morden for everything you do.[/sub] [b]Honorable Mention:[/b] [sub][@Sep], he always does his best to keep the OOC alive and we appreciate him for it.[/sub][/cell][/row][row][cell][/cell][cell][/cell][/row][/table][/COLOR]
