Hey! And welcome. So this is a concept for an RP that I’ve recently concocted. It’s called Darkmoor Chronicles: Isle of Dementia. As the title states. It is a kind of sandbox dark fantasy roleplay set on the mysterious and terrible Isle of Dementia. Players will create a character and try to survive the twisted perils of the island while looking for a way to escape from this isolated hell.

This is technically just an interest gathering OP, and I do have some edits to make as well. Below you will find a basic plot description as well as a little about the island itself. It’s origins and elements and whatnot. I will continue to work on this and roll out the final version, and if I see ample interest, I will have it publicly released no later than Saturday. ^-^



Our story begins out at sea. A passenger ship was sailing across the Sapphire Sea when it is beset upon by a terrible storm. The ship is thrown and casted about, and many of the crew and passengers are thrown overboard into the perilous waves. The storm eventually subsides and the ragged, damaged ship strikes land. The ship is hanging by mere threads and splinters, and is in no shape to be sailed. It is beyond repair in fact, and the survivors soon realize that they are stranded on this island. This eerie and twisted island, beset by ominous fog and plagued by screams and wailing. Where the dead walk and monsters lurk in the shadows.

The survivors are not without aid however, as they are not the only ones stranded on this island of madness. Will they survive the endless terrors and escape with their lives? And their sanity?





The Isle of Dementia is a pulsating core of madness and terror. It is a child’s story and a sailor’s worst fear. It’s roots are twisted and abnormally intertwined. Those that die here do not stay dead. Beasts and monsters like never before seen skulk the ravines and dead forests of the island. Strange sounds and bizarre sights riddle the island’s face, and what lies beneath the ground is no kinder.

Shrouded behind a curtain of mist in the Sapphire Sea, the island is not on any map. It can only be found by those who do not look for it. It is everywhere and nowhere in the seas. Normality is null and naught in regards to this rock of insanity which plagues the otherwise beautiful Sapphire.
At once instance you may see a flesh eating beast, and the next a jester having brunch with a knight. And then the jester having the knight for brunch.
The Isle of Dementia is eternal, and there is no escape.

Races and classes for the Roleplay are specified. Characters can choose between four different character classes-or types-and between six different races.

Hmm I'm kind of new to dark fantasy on here, but interested to give this a shot. Are there specific stats/skill sets for each class and race (like D&D style)?

No stats or numbers really like you see in D&D, no leveling system and all that. This is more story/character bio than numbers based. (If that makes any sense .___. )

If your character is a hardcore Barbarian, chop and smash away.

Ah I see, cool. As for the different races, are they based on any lore we need to consider when drafting the backstories, or is appearance the only thing that makes them different?
