I’m really kind of surprised that I haven’t gotten even one hit on my Interest checks for a Zombie Apocalypse RP. Does no one around have interest in that genre anymore? There use to be a few at least.

There are a few zombie apocalypse roleplays out there, and I'm sure there's also people that would be interested in roleplaying them--myself and some friends of mine included.

Looking over the interest check, I did notice that it was only a day old, so I think you might be jumping the gun a bit. I'd suggest giving it some more time to see if you can drum up some interest. You could potentially bump the thread once per day to try for interest.

Additionally, it probably doesn't help that there is little to no information provided for someone interested/lurking the thread. Yes, the general idea is that you're interested in roleplaying a zombie apocalypse plot, but what exactly are we talking about? World War Z-esque zombies? The Last of Us-esque zombies? Walking Dead-esque zombies? What about the characters; are you interested in a military roleplay, or something about a bunch of scavenger/survivors or potentially even bandits? Putting a few of your ideas up for debate in the thread might drum up some discussion that could possibly lead to a roleplay.

I haven't seen your interest check, and I do not want to assume anything about you, but the genre might not be the problem.

@Euphonium you’re probably right. I was going to give it more time obviously, just thought I would hit here to see if I could find anything. I was actually going to inquire about other places like here.

As far as the details, I thought about adding more detail, just didn’t want to go too much into it without any interest in the genre. Wouldn’t want to use all that juice that could used on a different topic. It’s the most basic of an “interest check”. Just that, checking interest in the genre. Not a particular RP yet.

@POOHEAD189 you know what happens when you assume 🙃 Again, this was an interest check for the genre, not a particular RP.

The problem is not the genre, it's that your interest check is so low effort and bland that it's almost impossible to write a meaningful reply without being larger than the topic starter. You might have better luck in free where player expectations are a lot lower, but people in casual or advanced will want to be sold the idea. Here's an example of what an interest check should look like.

I would also note, touching on what others have before me in part, that the Advanced section expects an essentially complete pitch with most every major detail accounted for. By this I mean it is largely understood that the player pitching the idea as the topic's creator is to have all of its content ironed out and a sizable description provided in the various categories, be them the overall tone and setting, general angle of the plot, expectations of the players, posting rate and format, et cetera.

As it is in this moment, the majority of Advanced section roleplayers would take a brief glance at it, if at all as recall that it is one of the smaller writing communities here, then see it as lacking in completeness and move on from there. I would say to reconstruct the thread from scratch, delving into all the details you think pertinent and relevant, then bumping the topic with the hopes it receives some attention. Do note this is not sure fire, no guarantees anyone will be interested, but it will likely see more attention than its current incarnation, @thecatinaction.

@BrokenPromise The Free section is far from the quality I produce, and expect; reason why I didn't post there. The IT was just a genre interest check, and I didn't think there would need to be that much detail (to my surprise, I was wrong). Thank you for the example IT, I am aware of how one should look; I use to RP here very frequently quite a few years back. I'll reform my IT, I guess!

@The Harbinger of Ferocity Thank you for the wise words. I didn't realize Advanced would be so "proper", so to speak ha ha. Although I should have! Again, thanks for the wise words. I guess I'll be revising my IT!

Just for anyone else who reads this, I'm not a rook to the RP world, or writing. I just didn't realize people would need so much detail for such a simple question. Thanks to all the response in this thread, though!

Oh zombie Rp's are out there and well in demand. I have one that has been going for years. As others have said, as far as an interest check goes, with most any Rp on this forum you will need to give people a rather well fleshed out idea, even in the casual section. General interest in a type isn't going to get you a lot of feed back unless you get lucky really. Even if it is a great idea, most will wait and see if you, as the GM, would put in the more long term effort of putting together a full interest check. Again, this isn't just for the advanced section but for casual and even Free. They want something to sink their teeth into.

While not always true the old saying - The more you give the more you get - is rather true around here. I will spend a good four to six months getting ideas fleshed out and an interest check for casual. Up to a year for the advanced section. (Granted, I go way over board on nearly every aspect of RP so I am not a perfect example but an example none the less.)

Give the Rpers something fleshed out with some details and then start a new check. You may have a bit more luck. Though that isn't always granted, sometimes it just doesn't hook people the first few times. I hadn't looked at your check until now but yeah, what BrokenPromise says holds true - there really isn't anything there. On top of that, your post count is so low with such an extended amount of time on the forum, that could factor in. Not that having a low post count should matter but reputation does play a part in some Rpers willingness to reply to an interest check. The lack of meat to the IC and the low post count is like a double whammy for some and they will just move on.

If you aren't wanting to start a true IC until after you get a few tugs on the line, you might want to post in the general interest check section just to see if you can get some interest in the topic.

@Lady Amalthea

Thanks for feedback. I understand the meat and potatoes part, I've been working on more detail already.

As far as my post count, I unfortunately had to start a new account a few years ago, and this is my first time really back; so that's why it's such a low ratio. I use to frequent here, and had some pretty extensive Role Plays, with a lot of "meat"!

I guess the only way to prove myself worthy is to produce! So I will produce.

Thanks again.

You Don, t need to have every detail but ernough to give a clear idea of your setting and so.

If people can understand your aims, your idea and so from the check and intrested. Short or short extensive, you ha a very short time to sell your idea. Make the most of it. . Your onto a good start..
