I mean those things are also being taken into account, your physically immature size just being another issue on top of many others for why perhaps it would be in your best interest to focus on growing before you decide to take on prey on your own. You are all pretty much coming into the world as highly intelligent toddlers, though once you guys find/establish your own nest of sorts, I'll likely advance things along to the point where you guys could probably explore more (i.e. you get a few levels).

Also snakes are scary, whether they're lil noodles or the size of logs. Even if there isn't any humans in this world, there's still that primal revulsion towards insects and other creepy crawlies just out of habit.
