[b]Personality:[/b] Malcolm is a cynical, direct, and rather rude towards outsiders. He will most of the time help others while grumbling under his breath, mostly to avoid conflict. He has a soft spot for children, and tries his best to soften his rough personality when interacting with them.
[b]Biography:[/b] 
Malcolm never dreamed of becoming a pokemon trainer. That was more of his father's idea. Never knowing his mother, as she died in childbirth, Malcolm's father was the only one who "raised" him. Raising him mostly consisted of leaving Malcolm at home while his father challenged (and failed) to battle the nearby gym leader. His father even gave Malcolm his an Elekid named Ex as a child, hoping it would encourage him to battle, but Malcolm had no interest in battling. Instead of battling with Ex, Malcolm treated the pokemon as a friend. While eager to battle himself, Ex also enjoyed relaxing with Malcolm as he did battling. The two would alternate between playing games and battling wild pokemon, until eventually Ex evolved into an Electabuzz. 
When Malcolm's father returned home that day to see the newly evolved Ex, he immediately challenged Malcolm to a pokemon battle, eager that he had a new sparring partner. Malcolm refuses, but Malcolm's father wouldn't take no for an answer, and commanded his pokemon to attack Ex. Enraged that Malcolm's father wouldn't listen to him, Malcolm promptly punched his father in the face himself, then fled his house with Ex. 
Now living his life as a drifter, he would travel from town to town, picking up any odd job he could to make money. He garnered enough money for a steady supply of food, a camping set, and a weapon for personal defense. Throughout his travels, he befriended two other pokemon, Screech the Zubat and Split the Abra. He encountered Screech after finding the orphaned Zubat screeching in the woods for his parents, which were nowhere to be found. He offered the Zubat some food, and Screech has stuck with Malcolm ever since. Malcolm became friends with Split over a long period of time when he got a semi-regular job in the city of Casper. Malcolm would sleep in an abandoned house at night, which happened to be the home of some psychic type pokemon. While at first hostile, Malcolm won over the pokemon with gifts of food and books, which the group of psychic pokemon accepted as his "rent." On the day he was fired from his job in Casper, Malcolm said goodbye to his psychic friends one last time, but one of the younger pokemon wanted to travel with him. It was the young Abra named Split. The pokemon loved the books Malcolm would give them, and wanted to travel to the places he read about. 
With his motley crew of pokemon, Malcolm travels the USA, looking for adventure and some purpose in his life.
