Name: Anna of the Flaming Heart Age:32 Gender: Female Personality: Not one for smalltalk or socializing under most circumstances, Anna is nevertheless a kind and caring soul. She often goes out of her away to help others, friends and strangers alike. Devoting much of her spare time to exercise and the mastery of combat, she puts little stock in needlework and other diversions common to idle women. She does have a certain admiration for musicians, however, a sentiment that most probably hinges on her almost-total inability to carry a tune. Though she takes the existence of the gods as a given she is little concerned with worship, being more concerned with her temporal duties. What better way to serve the gods than to concentrate on sending bad folks to divine judgment, after all? Honor and strength of character are, unsurprisingly, of paramount import to Anna. Her word is her bond, and failure in battle can only be excused by death. Affinity: Elemental Knight (Fire) Appearance: Anna is a little over average height for a woman, and unusually broad. Her limbs are corded with muscle, and her hands rough with callouses. Her flaxen hair falls down to her shoulders, and is most often tied back with a simple band. She is possessed of a hard, chiseled jaw and dark, brown eyes. Her expression is often mildly disdainful (or else mildly amused). When not doing battle with the forces of evil, she is generally dressed simply- an earthen-colored tunic, matching hose, old boots, and a tattered cloak. When called to some or another formal occasion, Anna may even wear a proper gown. Against her better judgment. Appearance (Armor): Arrayed in full plate and mail, Anna is truly a sight to behold- a tower of murderous, thundering steel. Her visored helm obscures her face, and her armor her features. She is largely indistinct from any man among the din and terror of battle. Her shield, heavy wood bound in iron, bears her personal arms: a red heart, wreathed in yellow flame. She generally wears a crimson cloak into the fray, draped about her shoulders. Her sword rests ever at her side, a heavy bastard, and remorselessly sharp. Biography: Born to a lord's steward and his fat wife, Anna was expected from an early age to either pursue a church career or attract a well-to-do farmer's son. She was destined to disappoint on both counts. As a child she was ostracized- being big for her age, and blunt of speech, she won few friends among the other young girls of the lord's household. Spurned by peers, as well as her mother, Anna's only solace lay in the support of her father, Syro. On the occasion of her tenth birthday he asked her, if she did not desire the life of a farmer's wife or that of a religious ascetic, what then would she do? After a moment of thought, she decided upon the path of the warrior. From then on Anna's childhood consisted chiefly of a series of practice fights with one or another masters-at-arms, of intensive physical training, and of tactical study. By the time she nineteen, she was as quick and as powerful as a tiger, and trained in the use of sword and shield, hammer and axe, spear and bow, and in the finer points of horseback riding. Moreover, she also manifested a somewhat more esoteric skill- the manipulation of fire. Using what money would have been spent as a dowry, her father bought her a set of armor, a sword, and a horse, and sent her upon her way. For over a decade, Anna spent her days riding from town to town, striking down evil men for cash rewards and hunting misunderstood monstrosities... for cash rewards. Over the years her skills grew, along with her fame. In time she came to the attention of the The Excalibur Guild. Shortly after slaying Farfnirax, the giant narwhal of the Burning Sea, she was approached by a representative of said organization and offered membership. Arsenal: Bastard sword, heavy plate and mail, shield, dagger, tinderbox, Fritz (a spirited rouncey).
