[hider=Then]As a teen, his main language was dry sarcasm, to the point where it came across as offensive. He left a bad taste in people's mouths with his apathy and lack of filter, that is until some of them stormed through his barricade to find out he simply built a defense mechanism due to a childhood filled with abuse. [i]Sometimes[/i] and presently, that smartass nature of his slips out. Something that has carried on throughout the years is his cheesy-ass grin, which is either genuine or something he does right after bruising someone's ego. Old habits die hard. 

Young Gray didn't mind using people to gain an advantage over, for selfish reasons, or because he wanted to. For example, he didn't want to go to prom alone and be a lame wallflower. He knew Miss Class President would be there, his crush since opening ceremony at King's Academy, so he asked dear Willow Nicholson out, just so he could have Amanda's looks that night engraved in his mind. He can still remember exactly what she wore (shows how impressive his memory is!). Earth tones within her make up that turn eggplant, blurry eyeliner with a [url=https://img4.woman.es/09/1f/55/maquillaje-dior-ester-exposito.jpg]'cat eye'[/url], and touches of golden shadow on her lower eyelid. Pure shine, with reddish tones. Simply bringing out her beauty. Nothing more, nothing less. She wore a gorgeous, expensive [url=https://img4.woman.es/a3/41/39/dl_u430185_242-1.jpg]green satin[/url] gown, that had a tie (large loop that crosses her chest), a asymmetry design, and a long train. To complete the assemble she had golden accessories: strap sandals, a bracelet, and star earrings. An absolute muse. Untouchable. 

The night didn't end well for him, but he did fall asleep with a smile on. 

In addition to those asshole traits, he use to have a major problem with authority and would deliberately act out (think walk out of class, play hooky when really he was sleeping on the bleachers, and be a frequent detention goer because he didn't do his homework), which was completely weird for a kid that was a 'dweeb' and a 'nerd'. Like, he was part of the CHESS CLUB because his mother begged him to join at least ONE club. Words like 'fag', 'twink', and 'bitch boy' were trigger words for him and he took it extremely personal, especially since he already had shit confidence thanks to his dad and even his mom occasionally, since he felt like he was her disappointment, 'wasting his potential'. Those that did get to know him, like really know him, knew this about him: he liked to jest and laugh off his problems, he was a slacker, and he cared more than he pretended not to.

[hider=Now]As he grew up, he matured in more ways than one. When he's properly motivated, there's nothing, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, that can stop him from achieving his goal. He's far more approachable and charming than he was as a teen. He can walk the walk and talk the talk, AND he has gained an incredible amount of empathy for people. A humanitarian. [i]Weird[/i]. After his mother passed, right out of high school, his priorities changed and he cleaned up his act. His best friend, Jason Graves, who went to police academy with him, and his sister, Kerrirose, who waited to graduate high school to follow her brother wherever he went, helped hold him accountable and suddenly failure in life was not an option for him.

He still rarely sugarcoats his words, unless he's intentionally lying, which he may still for personal reasons. He has a need for organization and cleanliness, and usually knows when something is out of place. He can point out the smallest details, that not many people would notice, but he's learned to hold his tongue and not bring up things only he may care about. He's approachable. Bearable. Sociable. [i]Kind[/i]. An odd sight for those who haven't kept tabs on him and his life. 

Looking deeper into his personality, for those that kept in touch, they know he goes through severe mood swings when he isn't intellectually stimulated (and also due to PTSD). With an addictive personality, he is prone to substance abuse. His current poisons are whiskey, caffeine, and cigarettes. But, he has dabbled in coke in college. Also, he absolutely hates being bored and won't hesitate to walk away without saying goodbye, just so he can do something else or brood. Overall, Gray may still have demons he's battling, but he is a bit more pleasant to be around with and has gotten over his more deep-seated issue (revolving around his father).   [/hider]  [/indent]
[color=bc4f29]Upbringing Synopsis[/color]
[indent]See, Blake and Katherine Chambers made enough money for their children and their guilty pleasures, such as gambling for the patriarch of the household and a full stock of alcohol for mother dearest. Blake Chambers had plenty of damage he took out on his family. It may be because his father, Malcolm, the number one Chambers in the family, had a goldmine of money he wasn't willing to give to his children, especially his eldest, or it could be because he too was a disappointment. Nothing he ever did was enough. So, sure, he brought home a salary around $127,000 since he was part of the top ten percentile of curators in America, but he also wasn't guaranteed to show all of it because he needed to spend it on himself. While his father was infatuated with the past, hence his job, Katherine couldn't handle her present, with her unfaithful and temperamental husband, so she escaped to a spa to be part of a serene environment and massage other individuals' stresses away. 

While Kerrirose acted her part, pretending to be a good girl, helping the gardener from time to time, which only Grayson noticed the flirting his sister did with the older man, no one else did, Grayson was dealing with all this information he was taking in, trying to go through the chaos and find the most important information. His grandfather would frequently visit and give them wise, yet stern words, which showed Malcolm cared about Gray and Kerri more than he did his son. Hell, he even gave them gifts and allowances, which only made Blake angry. And when their father was angry, it was never a good thing for any of them. Gray wore hoodies to hide the bruises, at least his father had the sense to not hit his face, and day in and day out, he'd go against his parents' wishes. Although, he didn't mean to hurt his mother's heart from rebelling. One day, he came home to a bloody mess. Parents were bleeding out, on the kitchen floor, and Kerri was missing. This was shortly after graduation from King's Academy. The rest of that year would be the only time he doesn't remember well. All he knows is his grandfather took care of it, giving him and his sister the exact words to say in court, and before they knew it, the gardener and nanny were arrested for the murder of their parents. 

A constant throughout all this was Gray's best friend, Jason Graves, who also attended King's Academy, and was remembered as the nice, stable comic book geek, who was somehow liked by everyone. After the incident, he was seventeen at the time, Grayson was given direction by Jason simply saying: [color=#deb887]"Dude, you should become a cop with me! We can so kick some villain asses."[/color] The show must go on (the criminal case was happening at the same time). Grayson didn't know what else he'd do, even if his skill set was obviously anything revolving around computers, he shrugged and said why not. In police academy, Jason found Elizabeth Stiller, [color=#e4717a]"Look what the cat dragged in..."[/color], and knocked her up at the age of 18 (literally only a couple months after they met). They had a shotgun wedding, and while Jason continued to pursue being a cop, Elizabeth stopped her plans to mother their child. She was one year older than Jason, two years older than Gray. They both decided they'd make Gray their daughter's godfather. Honestly? Gray doesn't know what that entails. 

Years past, Gray and Jay graduated Florida State University, while gaining experience as patrol officers, and both decided the best place to move to was the crime-filled city of Chicago, Illinois. So, they all took a leap of faith. During this move, Kerrirose tagged along because that's what she did, followed her brother, everywhere. The best friends lived right next to each other, in the same apartment complex that Gray still lives in to this day, and even if life made them too busy for each other, they did find time. While Gray quickly got promoted to detective, Jason decided to stay a patrol officer so he had more availability for his wife and child.

Things took a wild and tragic turn when the Graves got in a freak car accident and somehow, little Millie, their baby, survived. This happened a year ago. Grayson's life will never be the same. There was no way in hell he'd let anyone take Millie away from him. Shortly after, Grandfather Malcolm made an offer for them to move back, so he can help Gray take care of his sister and child, but for now Gray is simply going with the motions.

Even before Millie was adopted, Kerri has clung to her brother, personally wanting to live with him versus any of the other Chambers. The old man would've kicked her out by twenty one, so she simply left on her own accord and invited herself into her brother's world.

Kerri is a plant influencer on Instagram, so that does give his apartment pop (the apartment is turning into an amazon forest) and Millie sprinkles unicorn colors wherever she pleases, minus his bedroom, which dual roles as his office. No one is allowed in his bedroom. 
[color=azure]┗[/color] Millie wants to become a Broadway star, and maybe even have an acting career in musicals! She hopes her godfather never misses her shows. Her parents never did! Once a week, Gray makes time to take her to her parents' grave site. Millie appreciates this quality time.
