There are at least two types for every role the Attacking-type and Support-type and Wave Controller is one with extreme individual variations.

Nikola leans towards an Offensive-Utility type, He prefers manipulating Shinsoo into multiple precise beams rather than unleashing large attacks at his opponents. Coupled with his talent of Simultaneous Flow Control he stops most people's movements as well to help allies.

Oppose to say Baam, who likes amplifying and then firing large beams without regard for the terrain.
