He is protective towards those around him and would not leave another behind to face danger alone. He has had so many experiences over the years that have grounded him, making him far more humble and a kinder elf. He thinks things over far more carefully, considers others before he acts. While he enjoys the company of others he is more reserved and does not open up easily. Orias would rather listen to others than talk about himself. He prefers the company of others to loneliness and the ideal chatter of a stranger above silence. Although Orias generally seems very calm he has always struggled with his temper, and nowadays he prefers to walk away rather than act on it, but even so, it often gets the better of him. His patience only stems from his fear of action and of making mistakes. What others might mistake for bravery, is his own lack of regard for his own life or safety, and Orias in fact considers himself to be a coward. He has spent a great many years running from and avoiding his past and the burden of the title he was born with. He hides from mistakes he can’t face, no longer allows himself to hold any ambition, and believes the only way to repent for his past mistakes is to continue to punish himself, to keep his life simple and away from any meaningful responsibility. He is easily tempted into taking the easy way out of things, constantly drawn to past vices, and would rather avoid problems than face them. He believes the only way for him to avoid making the same mistakes is to keep himself suffering, toiling, and always dwell on every failure. While Orias’s own sense of humor is very dry, he enjoys the company of those who can make him laugh or even smile. At one point in his life, he was charismatic but this has faded from lack of use. He prefers to keep people at a distance rather than maintain close friends, choosing to hold himself back out of fear that they might discover who he was. Orias doesn’t believe in manipulating people. He tries to conduct himself with the type of honor and morality he once scoffed at and to continually strive to be better. Orias is not one to give up, no matter how tired he is or how hopeless things get he endures and pushes himself forward.
Background Occupation
Once a Prince, Orias now chooses jobs that require hard work or the constant threat of danger, currently, he earns a very modest living as a blacksmith and mercenary.
Living Immediate Family Members:
His father, King Kymil His mother, Queen Renna Eldest Sister, Princess Rosaria Middle Sister, Princess Annya
Dead Immediate Family Members:
Grandparents
Current Companions:
TBD
Current and Past Lover(s):
Nothing of any lasting importance
History:
Orias, the youngest child of the royal family of the Sun Elf Kingdom was born into a life of privilege and luxury. He had everything he wanted, a palace full of servants who waited on his every whim and parents far too occupied with older siblings to have the time to worry about him. He quickly ended up a spoiled and entitled child, free from much of the crushing responsibility that his older siblings had to endure. He never envied them, never wanted responsibility or life devoted to duty to his kingdom. Orias was never destined to become king, he had older siblings for that, all that was expected of him was to simply not make the family look bad and eventually marry well. Even with expectations set so low, Orias still managed to fail to meet them. His early life was filled with numerous scandals. He became known for his frequent visits to brothels and low-class bars, getting into fights with the common folk, and all-around embarrassing his family any way he could. He took none of his studies seriously except for combat training, which he only did because he found it fun. He did what he wanted with no thought to the family image and ignored any sense of responsibility. Eventually, his father had enough and felt that time in the elven military would straighten him out. Even within the elven military, a prince does not take orders, he gives them. His reckless and rebellious behavior continued even as he was given command of his own platoon. His command was mostly for show, to improve his image to the public, and his father was more than aware of just how unfit for leadership his son truly was. The bar was once again set so low for him, and again he failed. Ordered to stay within the kingdom, patrol the borders, make reports, and avoid engaging in conflicts but he found it all far too mundane. He craved action and glory so when rumors of nearby orcs encroaching on trade routes reached his ears he decided it was time for action. The very much hungover and far too green prince led his platoon against orcs in battle and for the first time in his life felt the entire weight of his responsibility fall upon his unready shoulders. The entirety of Orias’s combat training was controlled, against teachers who knew better than to actually try and harm the young prince. Orcs, on the other hand, held no such reservations. His men were slaughtered and the young prince found himself laying amongst the dead and wounded with his throat slit, his face horribly scarred, and covered in his own blood. For the briefest of moments, he truly expected to die. He almost wanted it, but he had led a useless life and he knew he only brought disappointment to his family name but death only meant that could never change, that he’d always be remembered as a failure and a fool. Pride drove him to cling to life, and Orias used his light magic to cauterize his bleeding throat and he lay among the dead and dying until he was sure the orcs had gone. He survived long enough to be found wandering the road days later. When he first saw his face reflected in a pool of water, battle-scarred and unrecognizable from the beautiful prince he had once been, he saw only a way out of the life he resented. Rather than return home, Orias rode with merchants to Roshmi City, the thought of seeing his family's disappointment in him was something he wasn’t ready to face. He decided he needed to make his own way, to earn his title rather than simply be born into it. Months became years, years became decades but he stayed away from his home. He found work as a mercenary, then a carpenter, and finally a blacksmith. Earned his own modest living in anything that required true hard work and what he did began to matter so much less than knowing that he had earned it with his own hands. Orias became a different person, found it so much easier to change in a place where no one knew him, where nothing was expected of him. After so many years went by he continued to avoid any contact with his family, stayed away from his kingdom, convinced himself he was better off in a life he earned and they were far better off without him around.
Combat and Magic:
Strength: 7 Speed on Land: 4 Speed in Air: 0 Magical Ability: once an 7, now a 4 Dexterity: 6 Weapon Proficiency: 8 Stealth: 4
Best Abilities:
Skilled swordsman, does well with a bow too. While Orias used to have decent abilities with his magic it has begun to fade.

King Kymil & Queen Renna Throughout his life Orias felt a great deal of pressure from his parents to live up to their ideas of what he should be and he instinctively rebelled against any plan they laid out for him. He simply never felt that they accepted or even saw him, for who he really was, only another heir who needed to be perfect to better reflect their legacy. A decorative item, only as important to them as the tapestries that lined the walls. So their relationship was always shallow and distant, he offered mostly snide remarks and youthful angst, and they seemed to show nothing but disappointment and shame towards him. He never got warmth from them, it was only ever his eldest sister or the servants who tended to him as a child, who felt more like family than his own parents ever did. As he got older his memories of them softened, he can now understand that perhaps this was how they were raised, and they had simply only done the best they could. He was, after all, a difficult child, and he no longer faults them for trying to help in the only way they knew how. But even with his sentiments softening he has no real desire to see them again and no need to be part of royal life.

Rosaria When Orias was a child his eldest sister, Rosaria, did more for him than his actual parents, although at the time he was never able to appreciate how hard she really tried. He noticed how she bore the burden of the Biren name with all the grace he never could. Orias always saw her as his parent’s clear favorite; responsible, dignified, regal. She was so much older than him, already knew who she was, and his eldest sister seemed so unrelatable and distant from him. He never reciprocated any attempts to bond with him, he only pushed back harder towards someone who he doubts has a single cruel bone within her. Orias believes Rosaria will be a much better monarch than his parents are, she has the kind of benevolence that is not an act, a kind and decent person through to the core, but he never dared to pay a genuine compliment out loud. Annya As a child Orias looked up to Annya, admired her bravery and strength both in battle and in her ability to forge her own path through life. He thought if anyone in their family could truly understand him, it would be her. They shared the same burden of high expectations and a desire to be their own person but vastly differed in how they dealt with it. Orias only ever saw how easily Annya made it look, resented how she both knew what she wanted and achieved it while still having the respect of their parents. He struggled with both his resentment and idealization of his warrior sister and with the knowledge that he would never be able to live up to either sister. Even now, he remembers Annya as the bravest person he has ever known and regrets that he was never able to tell her so. In General Orias did everything he could to distance himself from anyone he couldn’t live up to, and this included his sisters. He didn’t want his failures to tarnish the reputations Rosaria and Annya built for themselves, so he did all he could to drive a wedge between him and them. Actions and harsh words easily added to his long list of regrets. He had a talent for observations, noticing insecurities, touchy subjects, and picking at them until a person wanted little to do with him. While he has no desire to return to his old life, only neutral disinterest towards his parents, the memory of his sisters brings heartache that has never lessened, they are the only part of his former life he misses.

Solaris Mostly indifferent to elven religion in his youth, Orias has sought direction and guidance from Solaris in the past century. His brief time in the Elven military introduced him to a very different form of belief than what he experienced within the palace. The Solarian Mysteries is a sect of elven religion focusing on the eternal battle between the light and dark. While Lunathea is the all-mother who brought the elven race into existence, it was Solaris who elevated them with the gift of light. When Halastra, the sorrow-bringer, cursed many elves with infecting darkness it was Solaris’s light that fought against the dark. In turn, many light elf warriors worship him with fervor. The embodiment of the unconquered sun, a warrior against darkness, the illuminator, and a generous god who gifted the light elves with magic. It is the Solarian belief that those warriors who earn Solaris’s favor, who dedicate their lives to aiding the eternal fight against darkness, achieve illumination through valor. His chosen warriors are rewarded with their light, their magic, returning to the sun god and shining brightly upon Avalia. As each night ends, the sun rises to mark a new day, symbolizing Solaris’s inability to be defeated by the dark. To these devoted followers it is a reminder that while their fight may not end, it is one worth continuing. The unconquered sun does not give up, and neither does the light elf warrior. In the battle against those who serve darkness, the blood spilled is claimed as a sacrifice to Solaris. To ensure he receives proper sacrifice, the Solarians ask for his blessing to aid them in battle. Away from the battlefield, Solarians are expected to conduct their lives with honor, to further light within the world. Perhaps it is more than guidance Orias seeks through his devotion to his god, there is the hope that through forging a closer bond his light too will be reignited. That in death he will become one with the sun and shine brightly upon the kingdom. He strives to keep mindful and meditate on those days most holy to the sun, reflect upon his actions, and focus on improving himself. Upholding the idea of an embodiment of his god through his own actions; to be generous, value courage and honor, to seek knowledge and wisdom, pursuits of self-betterment, and to be a beacon of light in the world.
