It all began nearly one year ago….
He-Man and Skeletor were in battle just outside of Castle Grayskull. Several of the Heroic Masters and Warriors were at He-Man’s side, as were several of Skeletor’s usual henchmen. It was unclear what caused the blast of blinding energy, but in the end the two chief combatants were no more and the remaining forces were left with more questions than answers.
This whole time King Randor was under the impression his son was abroad with Orko. Now so much time has passed he’s beginning to wonder about the safety of Prince Adam. For the past year Man-At-Arms, the Sorceress, and Orko have done everything they could to figure out what’s become of He-Man and Skeletor. To this day they’re no closer to the truth.
The Heroic Masters had mostly disbanded over time. Now only Mecha-Neck, Ram Man, Teela, and Man-At-Arms helped the Royal Guard defend the city of Eternos. On a day like any other Lord Masque chose to attack the capitol city again, making his presence known with shadow dragons and serpents bringing terror to the peoples outside of the city walls. The Sorceress prophesized that chaos was in the air just before the Chaos King came down from the skies. His champion rode on a shiny hover-disc and had a particularly distinct type of sword; he was later called the Silver Swordsman. Is a new team of Masters and Heroic Warriors enough to combat the planetary threat, or will the power of the Chaos King drive the planet mad in his quest to unearth the Star Seed?
This is it!
In a game that has players defend Eternia without the assistance of He-Man, new threats arise in the absence of Skeletor. I’ve taken a bit of inspiration from Jack Kirby and a pair of familiar characters he created elsewhere for the first major threat in the RP, but after that it’s really up to the group of players as to where we go with this setting.
As a kid I came into the stuff by way of a slightly older nephew. MotU toys were everywhere and I think including the hand-me-downs I had 80% of the original series with the vehicles, Grayskull and Snake Mountain, etc. Then when they rebooted with a space theme I had a couple different He-Men [they looked radically different], Skeletor, and the water themed diving hero, as well as Skeletor's staff. I've recently got back into the franchise with the MegaBloks mini figures and sets. I had planned on getting Grayskull and building an Eternia out of Lego and Megablok sets in a spare room, but now I've got a baby due in October and my man-cave is no more. I've ordered one of the Masterverse He-man figs from that new line based on the Revelations series. Despite a lot of criticism and rumors the series will shift the focus to Teela, the animation is done by the same people who did Castlevania so I’m still excited.
Character Sheets MUST include but are not limited to:
Name:
Alias:
Archetype: [Cannon, Inspired by (insert character), or Original]
Age: [Prince Adam would be around twenty, Man At Arms would be closer to forty, King Randor pushing sixty or so, adjust accordingly...]
Weapon[s] of Choice:
Powers and Abilities: [don't get too nuts here]
Weaknesses:
Personality:
Trait: [Machines, Might, Mobility, Magic, Mind, Mischief, or Mystery]
Experience: [How long have you been active, battling threats, surviving the land, been a member of the Royal Guard,etc...]
Appearance: [Even if it's an original, I'm sure you can find a piece of artwork to base the idea on or you can use MSPaint to rework the pixel micros I provide]
BRIEF Bio:
Notes: [anything you might need to add like changes to a cannon, specifics not covered elsewhere, etc..]
Accepted players can go ahead and post Character Sheets for Heroic characters in the Character Tab. I’m tossing the idea around for Secondary Characters in my head but I wanna do something different than normal. We’ll get to that later…
Here's a link to some info about the regular Masters of the Universe with lists/links on the right side a little ways down on the page for members and enemies. You'd have to do a specific search for anything from the other variants on the He-Man franchise.
If I can get CS's from everyone showing interest and another player or two I think we will have enough to move forward. However I'm looking for more completed CS's before starting the IC too quickly. You don't have to be a huge He-Man fan to enjoy this. If swords and sorcery with a tad bit of tech involved is your thing, or you're a fan of 80's cartoons, this game is for you! I figure there might be a little more interest AFTER the new series premiers on Netflix on the 23rd this month so I’m eager to see what happens next weekend.
