Magic was never meant to be innate, at least not on Earth, since magic was a discovery. So, the only way for humans to be poets would be to practice it.

However, you're free to create characters that are not from Earth, where it's possible that these abilities are innate. Just keep in mind we'll all be starting on Earth once everybody's flash back posts are completed.
