[@CitrusArms] Here’s the set up: Our characters are soldiers or sailors at war with one another from distant planets. Sailors man the mighty ships surging through the galaxy and the soldiers spawn from there ships to fight and die on land not unlike their home worlds. During an engagement between warships slugging it out, escape pods jettisoned from doomed vessels send our two characters to some unknown distant planet uninhabited by intelligent lifeforms. Instead, a world composed of rock, desert, scattered pools of water and small dabs of arable land or thick tangle of jungle. The creatures of this world are diverse including both prey and predator. The prey are abundant and are sufficient for our characters to eat happily. The predators are in sufficient numbers to make survival precarious. Imagine the US Army Rangers who stumbled through some unseen portal in the movie Monster Hunter or the indigenous creatures of Pandora in Avatar who threatened the Air People (Humans). Our characters crash on the planet, or our escape pods land safely depositing us on this hostile world with no intelligent life. We are unaware of each other’s presence initially, focusing on survival and contacting anyone off world. But our communications equipment is damaged and contact outside Quoras-3 is not possible without some repairs which will require time and spare parts which no one has. Eventually, our characters become aware of one another and must decide which is more important, trying to kill the other or fighting the indigenous lifeforms to remain alive until rescue can be made. We do fight, but eventually, we come to a cooperative agreement similar to USAF Hank Marlow and IJN Gunpei Ikari who crash on Skull Island (King Kong) during WWII and agree to work together. The pair stumble upon a lost artifact in a cave on this planet that mysteriously grants both characters with magical abilities. Magic disappeared from the universe several millennia ago. There are sacred tomes on both sides detailing the actions of magic wielders in ancient times, but no one has possessed these abilities for eons. They are considered mythical. Finally, the pair are rescued and return to their home worlds in possession of these gifts. But this could be another story.
The Na’Vi of Pandora are not there. There is only one large flying dragon like the one seen in Monster Hunter. He is the dominant species of the planet. There is one extensive underground hive of scorpion like insects that will not climb out of their tunnels during daylight. The lush forests are just as dangerous as the open expanses of desert, and it is brutally hot. What happens when the two go back home could be left for another story or possibly a Role Play involving a group of 5-10 people. [High Casual][Advanced Standards]
