Atlanteans and her teammates alike began to yell in terror, punching at things that weren’t there. Everyone was terrified without reason. She floated, a quizzical look on her face. Was ‘the defect’ that terrifying? It just looked like Kassy’s eyes had turned black and she had revealed a tattoo on the back of her neck. Then, Alisa remembered. Her powers. Mirage had to be stronger than everyone else had thought. She was out of control, broadcasting her emotions and taking over others’ minds with them. Alisa, however, was the only one who could see through the haze. So many things were happening at once. Alisa’s eyes were drawn to Viktor as he swam over to Kassy, apparently in a daze, and threw a punch at her. Idiot! Asshole! Alisa started rapidly swimming towards them, fury building in her. Couldn’t Viktor see that it wasn’t her fault? Was he heartless? Aleen’a, ever brave, rushed at the two of them, barreling into Viktor- but it wasn’t enough to stop the next awful thing from happening. Alisa swam at them, trying to stop it before it was too late. She had the best chance of fixing this. Aleen’a shouted to destroy the vials, and Alisa changed course, swimming towards the cowering scientist cradling them in his arms. Aleen’a wasn’t entirely correct about the vials being the source of Kassy’s rage- it seemed to be more about her emotions- but getting the vials out of their hands would help. It would prevent their usage- and whatever they were, Kassy and her ilk didn’t deserve that fate. It made Alisa terribly sad to think about. Brain-dead zombies. She understood why Kassy was upset. “Give me that!” Alisa held out a hand for the scientist to give her the case and, when he simply cowered in fear, she yanked it from his hands. There was a struggle. “Stop! Demon!” he screamed. “You can’t have the cure! I won’t let you!” Alisa punched him in the stomach and ripped the case from his hands, pushing him aside and swimming up. “I got it! I got the case!” She could see no reason to destroy the vials- having them leak into the water might have some adverse effects on people- but they needed to be in safe hands.
