I've done PbP/forum rp'ing since I was 16, and I'm now 35. I walked away about 6 years ago, but find myself now really missing it as a creative outlet. Given my age, I would strongly prefer to partner with someone mid20s+ but absolutely someone 18+ is non-negotiable. While I also have a tendency to get long-winded, I'm thinking of trying something new (to me) with this - take turns setting the scene, but then aim to have more quick exchanges for dialog/moving the scene. I'd also be good with tossing dialog exchanges "live" and then translate that to a post. Too often in the past I realize I'd have spent a week for an event that would have maybe lasted 5 minutes. There would be plenty of wonderful prose to read, but not much that my character would have gained from it. Additionally, I am good with romance (most of these plot ideas lend well to that) but am not looking to write explicitly. I am fine with writing via PMs but would want to keep the rp on site. I have discord and happy to chat off site there (or toss dialog back and forth if incorporating it into a post onsite). So far it seems that most of my ideas simmering are all related to songs, please do not judge my taste in music :) [s]no apologies for my absolute love of snow patrol[/s]

what if this storm ends and I don't see you - as you are now ever again the perfect halo of gold hair and lightning - sets you off against the planet's last dance just for a minute the silver forked sky - lit you up like a star that I will follow now it's found us like I have found you - I don't want to run just overwhelm me I want pinned down I want unsettled - rattle cage after cage until my blood boils painted in flames all peeling thunder - be the lightning in me that strikes relentless
-- Snow Patrol Setting wise this could cover modern, historical, future, etc. I am leaning more towards vaguely historical/light fantasy. I envision the two primaries as a (definitely) woman leader of some kind - cult, small nation, rebellion - and an unexpected follower of any sex/gender. Story-wise, I expect this be more personal journey with details on the why and how She leads the group and other character very open to discussion. The macro issue at hand will play out between our characters. There's plenty of room to bring in bigger plot arcs or adventure. Depending on specifics agreed upon, the follower may be a skeptic, member of the opposite/warring group, etc. I have ideas for both the leader and the follower, so no strong preference either way for me.

I'll sing it one last time for you - Then we really have to go You've been the only thing that's right - In all I've done And I can barely look at you - But every single time I do I know we'll make it anywhere - Away from here Light up, light up - As if you have a choice Even if you cannot hear my voice - I'll be right beside you dear Louder, louder - And we'll run for our lives I can hardly speak I understand - Why you can't raise your voice to say To think I might not see those eyes - Makes it so hard not to cry And as we say our long goodbyes - I nearly do Slower, slower - We don't have time for that All I want is to find an easier way - To get out of our little heads
-- Snow Patrol For this I could see a pairing of any gender/sex. Two people on the run from something - maybe something one of them did. Maybe something they got themselves tangled up into. They likely aren't innocent but do not deserve whatever is coming after them. Leaning more towards modern/non-fantasy for this but I could be convinced otherwise.

You're angry but you don't know how to be that yet - It seems too much went wrong and all at once Resistance seems impossible from down this low - And surely no one else can feel like this But on the streets - You can see them gathering And in your heart - You know they feel like you do Sound and pulse and volume - Hands just reaching out for hands This is almost overload - I said almost overload Friends and foes and princes - Are all just human in the end This is so damn simple, yeah - It's so damn simple So standing in the steady throng of restless hope - You don't feel like an outcast anymore And something deep inside of you has wakened up - And you know that nothing's gonna be the same again And on these streets - You can see for what seems miles Because in your heart - You know they feel like you do
-- Snow Patrol No doubt, all of these have a lot of fluff. But I think this may be the fluffiest. Definitely leaning towards a generic medieval world. A young-ish woman is the only blood relative able to inherit the kingdom. Yet blood alone is not enough. She has the love of the people, but is that enough? The nobility and clergy are against it for various reasons. Fluffy yes, but I do love a good political intrigue. Perhaps she is more adept at subterfuge? Angst, betrayal, love lost and love found. Once again here I am open to the other character being of any gender/sex and I do not have any strong inclination to either character beyond what I've outlined.
