And I imagine Theo, in particular, would have animosity towards Nick in the process. (In DB at least) Kinda like he feels that he wasn't good enough for Thierry then replaced.

I don't think Nick would hate Theo for this, but would definitely be jealous and desire to keep Thierry around to the best of his ability.
