So I went back and reread some of White's post for context. I thought it would be interesting to try and figure out where I misread or overthought, mostly out of curiosity. I now believe it's this:

That caught my attention hard last time as well, but for whatever reason, I focused more on the speaking part. I think Nick would have stayed quiet, despite the part where she directly said things about him, [i]if[/i] she hadn't given him a "You do stupid shit that harms this family [i]too[/i]" sorta look. So he took it [i]personally[/i], despite her talking and aiming it to Thierry.

What a fascinating read, White!
