Kimiko let herself be led inside - her eyes stuck on Caden as she saw the tears falling. She barely notices when she’s inside until she registers Avery’s hand holding hers. She turns towards him looking from his hand to his face, concerned but also wanting to kiss him again. [i]Now’s not the time Kiki…[/i] She looks down at her soaked clothes and sighs. 

[color=FFF79A]“I know this is far from the biggest issue right now, but I can’t just go grab a change of clothes from my room right now, right?”[/color] Caden had been clear not to go on his side of the house.

Nero doesn’t move their body, just shakes their head multiple times. [color=#9B111E]“I don’t know!”[/color] They say, close to hysterics. The rain has gotten lighter, but their back is soaked. 

[color=#9B111E]“You should have let her kill me.”[/color] They add as the tears start falling, mixing with the rain. They finally peek up at Caden, letting themselves fall completely to the ground, legs splayed underneath them. They can’t even appreciate Caden’s wings without feeling as if something is stabbing their heart and twisting the blade.

Nic holds Cass tightly against him, kissing her head and running his hand up and down her back. When the cold starting cutting into them, Nic easily scoops Cass up, sweeping an arm under her legs. It’s not as if she weighs nothing, but working in a hospital and helping orderlies with lifting bodies has him not phased by it. His arm under her knees opens the SUV door before placing her inside on the seat and buckling her in.

He grabs the towel off the floor and leans over her to turn on the engine and hit the seat warmer. Wiping off most of the moisture from her face and shoulders, he lays the towel on her before cupping her face gently. [color=F7941D]“I’ll be right back, okay?”[/color] He tells her, kissing her forehead before closing her door. 

He makes his way to the back of the SUV and grabs the other towel as he pulls his phone out to send a voice message to Jane. [color=F7941D]“Something’s come up and I need to stay with Cass right now - I might not come home tonight, please take care of my dad.”[/color] He says before hitting send and climbing into the car. 

He drapes the other towel on Cass’ legs, thankful it was dry now at least, before turning on the heat and driving away from Caden’s towards her house.
