On a 7-9, you still reach your destination but encounter an obstacle on the way. Here's a list of obstacles that you get to choose from, choose 1: 
- Evading a monster
- Fairy mischief
- Confused elemental
- Injured dragon
- Uncontrolled magic

No I will not elaborate on what any of these entail xP
