Cassi frowned when she saw Nic’s expression. It pulled on her heartstrings, and she wanted to throw her arms around him and hold him, but now wasn’t the time. Cassi glanced past Nic to look at Ren before she returned her focus to Nic, taking the sandwich from him. 

She searched his face for more information before she kissed his cheek, her lips brushing the corner of his lips before she pulled back.
