Avery grabbed Kimiko's ankles in his hands when she started to pull away. His touch was light, careful of the bones so as not to pinch but she was effectively trapped for the moment. Avery glanced from her feet to her face, curiosity mixed with amusement.

Cassiopeia sniffed while Nic wiped the tears from her face. She took deep breaths, working on settling her mind and her heart. Nic's question however, stopped her heart all together. She looked away from Nic suddenly feeling defeated.

Choices. It always came down to the choices one made for themselves, and Cassi had chosen to avenge her family a long time ago. But achieving that would mean hurting and possibly losing Caden. Cassi had another choice to make.

Caden titled his head lower, making it easier for Nero to hold their face. He looked into their eyes, switching back and forth to take in the richness of the hazel and the brightness of the blue.
