Vibes:https://youtu.be/RCbjLfpCbhQ?si=Ze45qD1W2ZgYrAbK ~Basic~ Name: Kobe Abiko
Kobe is 6'2" and 180lbs. He has always been rather strong, tough, muscular, and slender. Yet, never enough to not be jealous of those who are truly gifted with physique. He has always only ever been slightly above average. Though he is clean shaven most weeks, he occasionally lets enough stubble grow over the course of a few days to be considered a beard. It is black and scruffy much like his hair.
Age: 28 Squad/Rank: [Squad Ten/Unseated] Biography: Kobe died on earth at age 24, only very recently. As a matter of fact, it was by a hollow during a very recent string of unusual attacks. Not that he knew that, being a human at the time. He simply remembers a strange explosion, the bank crumbling around him, and thinking just before he died that was just his luck. He'd tried to live in a considerate manner to others. Tried to work a steady job, pay rent, find love. All the things a young man was supposed to do. Before he could see any of those things to fruition, he'd been shat on. In fact, all he'd ever really liked to do in life had been martial arts. He'd done judo throughout middle school and highschool, and picked up MMA as an adult. It was just a hobby, but one he was good at. Right when he'd been thinking about pursuing it seriously, he died of course. This left him with a lot of unresolved resentment. When he'd been reborn in the soul society, he stomped around the first district demanding to see God, or whoever the fuck else was in charge of this whole cycle of death and rebirth. Of course, he was granted no access to anyone of the sort. Mainly because the people of the soul society were unsure if such a being existed themselves. Besides, he had worked up an appetite with all the yelling. Thankfully he had attracted the attention of a Shinagami on patrol, whom obliged him with lunch. The soul reaper noticed right away how unusual it would be for a new soul to grow hungry. He suggested Kobe apply to the academy. Kobe shrugged his shoulders and said "why not," which brought him to graduation. He summoned his zanpakuto, and unlocked his shikai, all while showing slightly above average potential. He received no honors or special promotions, but a bit of encouragement from any reapers who happened to be sitting in to observe new recruits. It was enough to motivate him through to the end. Truly, he feels a fire in his heart now at the thought of hunting hollow. Maybe he's been granted a second chance to be a warrior. Or at least, someone slightly important. Still, there is an air of melancholy that seems to hang over Kobe wherever he goes. He made friends during his academy days and is generally remembered as a likable fellow. Yet, solemn on most occasions. Until growing angry, that is. It seems that the dead end of his life has followed Kobe's mood into the afterlife. He always felt he was never special enough to excel, and yet too talented for those around him to not expect something from him. In the deepest pits of his heart, he longs for something. What, he's never been sure. Recognition? A purpose? Perhaps simple victory would be enough.
.squad 6 might be a good fit, seeing as my character's abilities are specialized mostly in breaking through defensive tactics. Apprehending other Shinagami seems like it would go hand in hand with this. If not that, then maybe squad 3. Information and gathering would fit Kobe because of his even temperament and balance between speed, strength, and skill. He's not too much of a meathead to fuck up a delicate operation, he's just smart enough to notice details that might be important, but more specialized for combat than your average lightweight scout. And the last choice, squad eleven. Frontlines, considering as I said Kobe should be good at taking on opponents more powerful than himself with skillful use of his extended range and slightly above average power. Given the right tactics and squad mates, he could fill the roll of skilled support or damage dealer. He would probably be slightly below average in spiritual pressure compared to the usual lineup on this squad, however, which would be a fun narrative.
~Zanpakuto~ Zanpakuto Name: Great Teacher Mononoke Type: Power Kaigo: "kind sage, please help us to dispell suffering and grant peace," Zanpakuto Appearance:
An Odachi with a standard single edge. It's extra length denote's Kobe's slightly above average well of spirit energy. It has an oily black sheathe, matching hand guard, and red kanji carved into it's blade. The kanji reads "May you pass on quietly," it's handle is wrapped in bright red string. While in this form, Kobe has mastered the technique for enhancing the slicing power of the blade using spirit energy. Outside of melee combat it is the only spiritual technique he has truly mastered. This does not have much of an effect on barriers or other magical defenses summoned via kido, but enhances the physical slashing mechanism of the sword. Meaning much less force is needed to deliver deep cuts to an opponent, turning small cuts into gashes and lacerations. This technique does not project spirit energy past the blade, but only enhances it's cutting power on contact. In addition, Kobe has trained a specific fighting style for using the Odachi. By practicing the same six cutting paths thoroughly, he has perfected these exact motions. Along these six specific direction, he can cut as close to perfectly as is humanly possible. This means he is not quite as good at improvising shots from awkward angles, but when in his most practiced stance facing a single opponent in front of himself, he cuts beautifully. Perfectly. It is a style of fighting specialized for dueling, and is made doubly deadly by the extended range of an Odachi. This fighting style has earned him the nickname of "the sage of six cuts," for the way he has diligently practiced it. It is seven feet long, with a very long and slender blade. The blade's shape excels in penetration of armor, and slipping in between gaps in an opponent's guard. The ropes on the back end of the spear trailing off are used in a strange manner by the Shinagami. When an opponent is just out of range, Kobe will sometimes throw the spear at his opponent and retract it back to him with the rope. This makes the object's full range a comfortable 12 feet.

Mononoke is smaller in stature and mass than Kobe by a fair bit. Maybe thirty pounds give or take. He has boyish, soft features but looks to be about Kobe's same age. What is similar about the two is their voices. mononoke shares a sing-song tone with Kobe. Somewhat high, and sweet.

When Kobe's Bankai is released, his spiritual pressure is let out completely unabated and can feel like an opponent many times his power level. This is done not by increasing his total well of energy, but by simply releasing all restrictions on that pool of energy. This means as he swings his giant Kanabo, he does so with the force of a much larger or more gifted opponent. In addition, when given a full force swing Kobe can project a massive shock wave of energy which covers a large area in front of him but quickly disipates. (A wall of force approximately twenty feet by ten feet high, projected ten feet in front of him) When the blast of spiritual pressure comes in contact with an offensive attack of equal or lesser power, it consumes and disrupts it's effect. It is no longer as effective vs defensive techniques like the shikai, though against weaker shields it can still shatter them. Because of this wild release of energy, Kobe's Bankai is one of the briefest showings of brute force out of any technique in the Shinagami world.
Shikai Skills: Nimble Fury: Kobe's Shikai has the ability to project spirit energy out it's tip in an incredibly focused point. This creates a massive amount of penetrating force with each thrust. Not only can this be devastating to heavily armored opponents, it creates a "spell slicing," effect. This means it penetrates all but the most absolute of defensive spiritual techniques. This is the bane of all fighters who rely on guard abilities. This ability taxes a large portion of spirit energy and can only be used 4 times in a usual battle. Use of a fifth time causes the Zanpakuto to revert back to it's base form for 5 turns. Use: 1 turn Cooldown: 2 turns Enlightened Spirit: Mononoke becomes capable of levitation, and obey's the command of Kobe's thoughts. It can move at the same speed that Kobe can swing it, and sprint. It is also strong enough for Kobe to stand on it, or hang from it while levitating. This cannot be active at the same time as Nimble Fury. Use: 3 turns Cooldown: 4 turns
Zanjutsu (main focus) Hoho (secondary)
