Nic closes his eyes, picturing his mom in this situation, how worried she must have been about Nic losing another member of his family and how she probably only confided her fear with his father. Taking a deep breath in and out, he reopens his eyes and kisses Cassi’s head. 

[color=F7941D]“I can understand [i]why[/i] he did it, I just… there’s so many other possibilities we could have tried together. Survival rates, even for stage four, have improved in just the last five years…”[/color] 

Nic’s jaw feathers and he takes another deep breath in and out before continuing. [color=F7941D]“There’s just [i]so[/i] many ‘ifs’ that it’s hard to just… accept it.”[/color]

Flashing Caden a wink, they quickly hide their face in his chest before any more blushing can give them away.
