By definition, someone who's authoritarian governmentally [i]does[/i] want government involvement. The word 'authoritarian' doesn't have anything to do with forcing beliefs on others, it's all about the government having authority.

Stalinism and Maoism are both authoritarian ideologies, for instance. They both call upon the government having a strong degree of authority.
