The closest I got to doing the above proposed idea was taking a world that a friend and I built together, used our old RP as lore, and then spin a new tale with new people right over it. 

I think it would be [i]okay[/i] to do something like that, but I don't know why you would. I can understand the appeal of taking an unfinished but beloved story and breathing life into it, but isn't that unfair to your partner? I know I wouldn't want to be saddled with a bunch of expectations for how my character should behave, which is the main reason I don't play many fandom RPs. And would it be worth the effort for me to read everything about your RP just to have you flake on me when I don't meet your expectations? Even so, nobody is going to write or have the exact same ideas as your old partner. But perhaps if you understand that it's not going to be the same, it wouldn't be a horrible thing to try.
