Berto didn't wait to be dismissed; he never did. Among his many shortcomings in military protocol, this one at least made him more efficient... [i]most of the time[/i]. He disappeared into the crowd of arriving aid workers and opportunists, and fleeing refugees, looking like a tourist who had no idea he'd been dropped into the middle of a warzone. Just another scared old man, desperate to find his loved ones and get them the hell away from this awful place.
