"First you need to get into a lucid state. The best way to do that is to set an alarm. So waking yourself up just as you hit REM sleep should do the trick. An alarm at 3.5 hours after you fall asleep should be about right when you start to hit REM and then when you go back to sleep, you should be lucid and in another realm. The better you get at lucid dreaming, the better you'll get at realm hopping! Good luck!"
So is the only thing that actually matters getting into a lucid dreaming state? There isn’t anything overtly occult or otherwise supernatural we have to do to make everything work?
I can say I haven't done this much research into a topic for an rp for a bit lol. Apparently there's a whole thing with lucid dreaming. It's legit interesting lol but one of the requirements is a steady sleep schedule. That ain't happening lol. So no lucid dreams for me xD
My understanding is that there are a number of methodologies that can be used to achieve lucid dreams and I'm pretty certain that good sleep hygiene isn't necessary for all of them. I semi-regularly end up having lucid dreams and my sleep schedule is atrocious – I only sleep around 4-6 hours most days and I'm lucky to go a week without skipping sleep outright at least once, let alone to get regular hours in. Mind you, I don’t actually know what causes my lucid dreams, but if I had to guess, I’d say some quirk of my insomnia does it; probably either the duration it takes me to fall asleep or the constantly being woken up, since from what I’ve read, both seem to be tied to people forcing it. In other words Damon, our resident insomniac, a potential regular lucid dreamer?
