His goal here is primarily to figure out why he's suddenly so different and on alert just because they're leaving the Snouthold. He strives to learn something from this encounter about how to be a leader or act like a proper dragon, so figuring out what has this more experienced leader so on edge is ideal for him.

His thought process is: "Sure, it's less safe out here than inside I'm sure, but it seems strange for this usually laid back and casual dragon to so closely resemble the moody Garrock. Surely there's more than that, right...?"
