Hoping that would scare the kid off. Or get the attention of the officer. Who in their right mind would try to carjack right next to the police like that? Mandy had a healthy respect and fear of cops. Being Deaf meant that if they gave her an order and she couldn't see them doing it, like coming up from behind, she'd never know and wouldn't be able to comply. She had learned horror stories from her parent's friends.
