Caty and Karolina were able to enjoy their time at the party, but Caty could tell something was bothering her girlfriend. Nightmare's nightmares were getting to her. And if Caty were to be honest what she saw still shook and confused her. Why would her nightmare conjure a her that would hurt Karolina? They decided to spend the night at the Davis residence for the night. The tower felt way too violated. That was the first time they had security concerns there. They didn't even consider that someone would attack them like that. Caty stepped through the door first and yelled out, "Mom, I'm home!" She didn't have to because Denise was sitting right there in the living room watching TV. She took her shoes off with Karolina doing the same as she stepped inside. "Hey, mom. I brought my girlfriend over. We've had a long night. Do you mind if she spends the night? Karolina, this is my mom, and mom this is Karolina." "Hi, Mrs. Davis," Karolina said, giving her a hug. "I love your daughter. You've truly raised an exceptional young woman." "Hi, sweetie. I like you." Denise said. She initially thought that Caty and Liz would end up back together, but gave up on that notion once she and Camilla got together. Ever since Caty joined the Young Avengers and began dating Karolina, Denise could see the light returning in her daughter's eyes. She was worried for a while. Look at her. She was even out on Halloween for fun, not to fight crime. Denise had to stop herself from crying. "Thank you for watching my baby girl's back and being here for her. I haven't seen her this happy in a long time." "Mom..." Caty mumbled awkwardly as her cheeks turned bright red. She was starting to understand how Vision felt. "Y...you're welcome, Mrs. Davis." Karolina replied back. If she didn't know better she would've thought she knew they were superheroes. "You can call me, Denise. And it seems we're having a sleepover tonight. Danny and Chase are upstairs as well. Goodnight, girls, and sweet dreams."
Caty started to undress the moment she and Karolina entered her room. As much as she wanted to lie down she did not want to get her party clothes on her bed. Karolina closed the door behind them and started to do the same. "I think your mom knows we're superheroes." Karolina said while sifting through Caty's clothes to find something to wear for the night. "What makes you think that?" Caty asked with a turn. "She pretty much said it. 'Thank you for watching my baby girl's back and sweet dreams'." "Okay. That last one is kind of a stretch. How would she even know about Nightmare? We just fought him." Karolina shrugged. "Maybe your mom's a spy. You never thought it was weird that the Spider-Clones became Agents of SHIELD?" Caty paused to think. "I... did. But no. I've known my mom my whole life. A spy? I mean, she's my mom!" "I didn't think my parents were alien supervillains sacrificing teenagers to rule a destroyed world, but here we are. At least your mom's one of the good guys." "I'm sorry, Karrie. We haven't really talked about that in a while. Are you okay?" Caty asked as she walked over to Karolina. "Yeah, I'm fine. That's not what I meant. My point is that parents tend to be really good at hiding things from their kids. But if she is an agent she'll tell you when she's ready and if not and she just put two and two together, she'll tell you that too." "You're right. But while we're on the subject of our superheroics, are you sure you're okay? It felt like you've had a lot on your mind since we escaped Nightmare's realm. What did he show you?" Karolina gripped the clothes in her hand, tightly. She was afraid of this question. "He showed me the thing I thought I wasn't afraid of. That guy from your college class. The Prowler? Do you have feelings for him?" Before Caty realized it she stepped backwards as if the question was a weapon filled with her greatest weakness. "You mean, Hobie?" Caty asked herself this very question. "I'll admit. I thought I might have. He's one of the best people I've met. Showed me that there were truly good people out in the world. Besides you, the team, and Vision my life has been filled with so much darkness since I got my powers. Then I meet a kid who has to raise his siblings and on top of that saw a problem in his neighborhood and city and wanted to change it and he decided to do it without powers. He inspires and motivates me to be a better hero and person. That's it. I love you, Karolina Dean. Always and forever." Karolina felt a huge weight was removed from her chest. She was worried about where things were going at first, but the way it ended reassured her that Caty loves her and that nightmare was just that, a nightmare. "And I love you, Catherine Davis. Thank you for not treating me like I'm crazy." The two embraced each other and kissed. Nothing could come between them.
